It is a place of joy, a place of peace. Lush green plants grow alongside a lazy blue-green river that is alive with fish of all shapes and sizes. Creatures play, darting around trees and swimming the river. The forest is alive with activity before the sunset. But in one tree, two creatures are sleeping peacefully side-by-side; an egg nestled between them.
The egg cracks, waking the two sleepers. After five breathless minutes, the baby inside the egg pops out. It is a skeleton; it's bleached white bones gleaming in the moonlight. The two creatures are horrified at the monster that is the result of their lovemaking. In their fear, they set fire to the tree, burning the skeleton. As the tongues of flame dance along the branches of the tree, the two creatures gaze sadly at their home.
The sparks fly and ferns and blueberry bushes light on fire. Critters scamper away from the burning mass that used to be their home. The two creatures-Digimon, to be exact- clutch onto each other in fear. The forest burns around them, yet they stand still, possibly hoping to be burned also, as a punishment.
A miracle happens. The flames leap not three feet from them, but never any closer. They watch their home become a smoldering ruin, but around them, a circle of green prevails. Then the fire stops abruptly. The two Digimon stay still for a moment, gathering courage, and then they cautiously step outside of their circle of green, which abruptly vanishes. All around them is a vast, burnt, plain, all ash, and only a few tendrils of smoke floating up from the debris. The two Digimon were frightened, and they had reason to be. For something would happen that would change their world and ours forever.
