Seeing Kathryn
By: Ellie :)
Author's note: This one's for Jenn, because when I was reading one of her stories (that was nothing like this, mind you.. It was called 'Miracle') this random idea popped into my head! I'm not sure you can give her full credit, but it's worth something! ;)
Disclaimer: Para-who-ha?
He was watching her. It was something he hadn't done in a while.
She was staring at a PADD that she held in her left hand. Her body was leaning to her right, with her elbow on the armrest of her chair, her head propped up by her right hand. Her delicate fingers were curled near her mouth, touching her lips ever so slightly. Her lips were fixed in a frown, but not a frown of emotional upset, rather, the face she wore when she was concentrating. The muscles in her cheeks and lips twitched once and a while, some kind of reaction to whatever it was she was reading.
Her eyes were focused directly on the screen of the PADD, the blue orbs fixed on it. He could see the smoky shadow that graced her eyelids when she blinked. Her dark lashes elegantly framed her eyes, curling upwards. Her eyes were held in a slight squint; again, her concentration stance.
Her hair was shorter today. Not by much, but he could tell she'd had it trimmed. It had an extra bounce to it as well, which made her appear younger. Not that she was old, he corrected. Just not the same eager cadet he was sure she had once been. He cracked a smirk at the thought of her when she was young. He wished he had known her. He shook his head slightly as if to clear his mind so he could continue his study of her.
He looked to her hair once more. He was never sure why everyone was convinced she was a red-head. She certainly had a few reddish hints to her hair, enough to be noticeable, but he'd hardly call her a full-blown red- head. Her hair was a nice shade between light brown and red. Maybe it was called light auburn. Maybe. It shone a brilliant gold in the lights of the bridge. He never really thought of near flourescent lights as being quite flattering, but it sure suited her. In fact, every light suited her. Okay, now he was being mushy.
He had just begun to notice the slight blush in her cheeks when she'd caught him.
"Problem, Commander?" she asked, with a distinct smirk on her face, her eyes twinkling.
"Not at all, Captain. Not at all." Smiling, she shook her head and resumed her reading. He resumed his previous activities, as well. And this time, she didn't say anything.
-End desu.
