Jono sat on the edge of the building staring at the ground. It was a
long way down. He wanted to jump but the thing that bothered him most was
that he knew the fall wouldn't kill him. Nothing could kill him, not even
the explosion that had ended Gayle's life. He didn't have to eat, drink or
even breathe. Those were basic human needs. So what did that make him?
Definitely not human. He sighed and turned to go.
In the floor below a pink skinned girl sat munching away at an apple she had taken from the bag of them that was on the floor next to her. She didn't notice Jono at first but when she did, she panicked and ran for cover. He picked up the bag and started walking to her. She tried to huddle as far as possible into the corner. He dropped the bag in front of her. Once he was a safe distance back she snatched the bag away.
Jono sat down and watched her eat. Some where during that time he managed to doze off. She woke him by nudging him softly and repeatedly. He opened his eyes and looked at her. She practically shoved an apple into his hands. He stared at it. *What am I supposed to do with this? Does she expect me to eat it? * he thought. She stared at him expectantly. Just then an African American girl came through the door. The girl panicked again and took off. This time she stayed away.
Ororo approached him. "Hey, it is Jono, right," she asked him. He nodded. "A little too shy," she commented. Shy, that was something he had never been before it happened. "You can not think like that. Stop dwelling on what has already happened and move on. Otherwise it would kill you," she told him. *I'm already dead* he said. "Yeah I heard about that," she said. She looked at the ground. "Digging out of your grave must have been pretty traumatizing," she said. He didn't respond. "I know someone that can help you forget all of that or help you get passed it," she told him. "What do you say, Jono," she asked. A few minutes passed before he said,*Fine*.
