"You Set Me Free"

Can't you see?
There's a feeling that's come over me
Close my eyes
You're the only one that leaves me completely breathless

Matt closed his eyes, allowing him to go off into a dream-like state. But this was on dream. He had just gotten back from a very romantic evening with his girlfriend, Kari Kamiya. He and Kari had been dating for 3 years. Even Matt thought that it was a bit strange that the one girl he would end up falling for would be his best friends little sister.

No need to wonder why
Sometimes a gift like this you can't deny

Lying down on his bed, his eyes focused on a picture of he and Kari holding hands at an amusement park. It had been there first official date. Tai had been the one to set it up. The young brunette had been fixed on getting the two together ever since he started to notice the small hints Matt and Kari would throw each other. Matt was shocked to see such initiative in Kari's older brother, as he had thought Tai would be against the whole thing. Then again Tai was full of surprises.

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free

Kari was his angel. Matt smiled at how such a description was so perfect for her. She had helped him through all of his hard times, and accompanied him through his happiness. She was all he could ever want in a companion and so much more. She could take any bad situation and help him be bigger than his problem. And Matt definitely had his share of problems. His parents divorce had left him cold and distant. But with Kari's help, he was laughing and smiling as much as Tai was.

There's a will
There's a way
Sometimes words just can't explain
This is real
I'm afraid
I guess this time there's just no hiding, fighting
You make me restless

The blond sat up, and slowly made his way out of the house, as not to disturb his dad. After he exited the apartment, Matt made his way to the Kamiya's apartment. Her parents were out of town visiting relatives, and Tai was in charge, so Matt knew he wouldn't get into to much trouble with Tai if he decided to drop by and talk to Kari at 10 o'clock at night. After all, it wouldn't be the first time. Matt knew the to Kamiyas always stayed up late and watched movies when their parents were out, so he wouldn't be waking anyone up.

You're in my heart
The only light that shines
there in the dark

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free

Sure enough, the two Kamiyas were up. Matt knocked on the door and was soon greeted by the smiling face of his friend. "Hey, Matt! Come on in", said Tai as he stepped out of the way, allowing Matt to enter the house. "You're just in time. We're just about to start the movie," said Kari as Matt chose a seat next to her. "What are we watching," Matt asked. "Chocolate," said Tai as he sat down in a large, very plush, armchair. Matt laughed, "Isn't that a chick-flick?". Tai shrugged, not really caring, and pressed play on the remote.

When I was alone
You came around
When I was down
You pulled me through
And there's nothing that
I wouldn't do for you

About half way through the movie, Kari fell asleep on Matt's shoulder. Matt smiled and placed her down gently on the couch. "I'd better go," said Matt quietly to an observing Tai. Tai nodded and said good-bye to his friend. Matt left, but not without giving Kari a quick kiss on the forehead and whispering an "I love you" in her ear.

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free
