Chapter 1: New Student at Tomoeda
10-year Sakura and Tomoyo sat down in their 4th grade classroom, waiting for Mizuki-san to enter the classroom. Syaoran walked casually inside with his backpack hanging loosely. Sakura was a bit nervous. Syaoran sat behind Sakura and he always 'stared' at her, which kind of scared Sakura. Mizuki-san came into the classroom promptly after the bell rang with a new student.
"Ohayo minna-san." The class chimed back with "Ohayoo gozaimasu." Mizuki-san bowed her head slightly and brought forward a new student. "Class, welcome our new student Tsung Mako, she is from Singapore. Mako will be in your class for the rest of the year. Please show her how welcome Tomoeda can be." The students yelled bits of hello and how are you doings. Mako smiled and sat down next to Sakura.
"Hi! So you are from Singapore?" asked Sakura. Mako nodded her head and added in broken Japanese, "Yes, very nice here. You like plushie?" Mako took out a plushie that greatly resembled Kero-chan.
"Nani??!!" Sakura fell off her chair in a bit of surprise. It looked exactly like Kero-chan! "Hai! Very cute, 'kawaii." Mako looked pleased and added "Please call me Mako-chan. Mother call me that."
Syaoran, meanwhile, was busy studying Mako. There's something about her, thought Syaoran. Not only does she resemble one of the reknowned prophets in Hong Kong, she has a Kero-chan plushie!
"Hello?" Mako turned around to greet Syaoran and he fell over. The class stared at them and Syaoran quickly recovered. He turned cold and asked "What do you want?"
"Gomen! Aa... can I borrow pen please?" Mako's Japanese definitely isn't very good, pondered Syaoran. Then he started thinking about the family that lived next door to him in Hong Kong.
Years ago, thought Syaoran, a great magical family lived next to Meiling and him. They were the Tsungs. The family comprised of magicians and fortune tellers that can sense magic but could do none themselves. The only sort of things they could do was fortune telling and everyone in the family that has one drop of the Tsung blood will be able to fore tell many great things to come. Could she?
Mako was still smiling but sweat was slowly overcoming her and she was hyperventilating. Did I say something wrong? Why is he staring at me? I just need pencil. Nani??!! She was getting frustrated. What did I do wrong?
"Here." Syaoran recovered from his thoughts and gave a pen to Mako. "Arigatou." Mako turned around quickly and glanced at Sakura's papers. It was reading time. Ooh noo... this will take me forever to understand...
