Around The Corner
By: Reffie Striheart
Yuffie Kisaragi walked gracefully through the woods, her tall thin figure sillouetted in the fading sunlight.
She had grown to be a beautiful woman, with her silky brown hair and mischevious brown orbs of light and she attracted many men. But none were the ones that she wanted.
She remembered the date. That one date four years ago. Those magical moments. She was twenty and he was twenty-eight. but her date had eyes for other girls.
Four years ago she had gone out with the red-headed Turk Reno. He had taken her on a date. It had been magical...for Yuffie and Yuffie only. Reno moved on very quickly.
Where are you, Reno? She wondered. Then she giggled and realized how much she had changed. Not just in appearence but in spirit. She would usually be mooning over materia, but now she was mooning over a guy.
I miss you Reno, she thought. I'll call you tomorrow just to see how you are doing, okay?
*
But the next day passed and so did the day after that. And the day after that. Yuffie never called. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. And still no contact with Reno. And then months turned into a years and before the ninja knew it a year had gone by. And still no call.
Tomorrow...she thought.

Yuffie awoke the next morning at ten-o'clock and picked up the phone. She dialed Reno's number which she had memorized long ago. As she was dialing her stomache twisted into a knot.
Ring...ring...
" Hello?"
" Hi. Is Reno there?"
There was a pause. " Yuffie is that you?"
" Yeah. Whose this?"
" Elena."
" Hi 'Lena. Reno there?"
" Didn't you hear?"
Yuffie's gut twisted again. " Hear what."
" Yuffie....Reno's dead."
Around the corner I have a
friend
In this great city that has no end
Yet the days go on and the weeks rush on
And before I know it a year is gone
I never see an old friends face
For life is a swift and terrible race
He knows I like him just as well
As in the days when he rang my bell
And he rang mine, if we were younger then
But no we are just two tired old me
Tired of playing a foolish game
Tired of trying to make a name
" Tomorrow" I say " I will call Jim"
" Just to show that I am thinking of him"
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes
And the distance betweeen us grows and grows
Around the corner yet miles away
" Here's a telegram sir" " Jim died today"
And thats what we get and deserve in the end
Around the corner a vanished friend
