Songfic to "Your Boyfriend Sucks" by The Ataris. Sorry, it's my first songfic so it sucks.

Disclaimer: Blah Blah not mine.

You're better off without him, don't call him...

He's breaking your heart.

Clark sat in the far corner of the Beanery watching as Lana sat reading her book. She looked hurt. He wished so much to go comfort her. He remembered today in the hallways he stood staring into his locker as he listened to the couple fight. It seemed like Whitney and Lana were always fighting about something or other. And it tore him apart to watch Lana from afar wishing he could comfort her.

He's hanging with your best friend and your waiting there,

It's tearing you apart.

Clark wanted to tell her the truth. On his way home a couple of nights ago he had stopped at the hill in the end of town. It was the best place to look at the stars. He was heading up there when he saw Whitney's car. He looked inside and suddenly, he wished he didn't have X-Ray vision. It was Whitney and the captain of the cheerleading squad doing... ungodly things. [A/N: Well godly if your talking about the Ancient Greeks but that's beside the point.] He wished he could tell Lana, but it would hurt her too much. Clark Kent never wanted to hurt the woman he loved.

He lied to you a thousand times,

When I was there he kept you waiting.

Clark sat in the Beanery watching Lana still. She kept looking at the clock, then outside, then back down at her book. She looked disappointed. No doubt she was waiting for Whitney. Clark hated him so much right now. 1) he had the love of Lana Lang 2) he took that love for granted 3) he hurt her 4) he still had the love of Lana Lang.

Finally got the nerve to tell you

How much you mean to me you said that I was your best friend,

A real sweet guy, but that's all I'd ever be.

He couldn't shake the conversation that was echoing in his head. When he had asked her what she had said to Whitney explaining the "non-date" they had gone on in the limo, her answer hurt him so much.

"The truth. That we're just friends." With that, she walked away.

And I'm still here waiting there

To catch you if you fall.

I don't know why I care so much

When I shouldn't care at all.

Clark shook out of his trance as Whitney walked into the Beanery and a smile lit up Lana's face. As they walked out holding hands, Clark knew Lana was in love. He knew he could never have her, but he couldn't help but hope for the day when she'll realize how much he loved her.
