summary: look up.
Sky--
The quiet stretch of time between dawn and the setting of the moon proved a prefect time for silent meditation. He rested himself against a nearby boulder and contemplated the two sides of the sky.
One still lingered with night, dark and shaded, the other pregnant with morning, vibrant and richly colored. He could almost distinguish the line between where day began and importantly shoed away the night.
The Samurai felt a stirring inside him, the weak twitches of a sedated monster. It was kept complacent and drugged, but he could not deny it's existence. He was as the sky, of a duel nature.
He raised a hand from his knee and placed it on his stomach.
'I will consume you....' The samurai attempted to listen objectively.
'You will not leash me down for long...'
"I will not heed you daemon." he whispered, but all the while remembering the power the daemon had acquired from him, how he had fed it like a hungry babe.
'And you will feed me again.' The insidious voice began speaking again.
'In the heat of battle, your sword raised, you will feel the passion of hate rise within you, and I will feast. In the dead of night, when you lie alone in bed and substitute your hand for some long lost lover or absent attention, I will feast of the strength of your loneliness.'
The gnawing inside his stomach had grown, spreading an ache all around his body.
The daemon pulsed and throbbed within him, and he curled around his middle as if to keep it inside. But it's words spoke truth; hate, jealousy and loneliness lived inside him.
Jack closed his eyes tight, and looked inside himself, searching for consolation, peace, affirmation that he would not give way to the evil inside and around him.And he saw the sky within himself...
*~*
The moon set and sun rose high in the sky.
The throbbing coursing through Jacks body receded, and he stood.
