I drove on further into the stormy weather trying to find a way out of this hellhole. I had a sudden chill. I knew what it was before it struck, why I didn't move I didn't know. From the back seat of the truck it grabbed my shoulder. Thinking fast I swirled the truck left and right several times. This shook the beast up some but it held onto my shoulder with the grip of a tiger on its prey. It climbed over the back seat and blocked my sight of view. Not knowing where I was going I struggled to keep this animal from biting me. The Zombie swiped, scratching my face with its rotting fingers. It left my face a burning red. I threw a punch at the zombie's gut that made it spew out some sort of green fluid. Watching this goo drip onto the floor I saw the shotgun that I put down. The gun itself was out of reach but the strap was close enough so that I could use my foot to pull it closer. Reaching out with my foot I was a hair away from the strap when this zombie opened its mouth. It was getting ready to take a bite. I reaching as this monster slowly drew towards my neck, straining to find the strength to get this gun I dropped my foot down, pulled the shotgun to my feet reached over and.. Boom! Its rotting head exploded into a million pieces splattering its brains on the roof of the truck.

Relived and disgusted I drew a smirk on my face and began to laugh. I hadn't laughed like that since I was a kid. Short and sweet the moment was as I found myself on the wheel of a truck going 90 miles an hour in a wooded area. How I didn't crash was amazing, yet I was still going and there was a whole set of trees just waiting to pound me into bits. I slammed on the brakes just as I crashed into a fairly large tree. My head slammed against the wheel, dazing me. Everything was became blur. I found my way out of the truck and fell onto the ground unconscious.

The sound of rain droplets filled my dark world. Then came a powerful migraine. I screamed out as the pain filled my head. Opening my eyes I saw the brown of the leaves that had laid my bed for what seemed a couple of hours. It was nighttime, the moon out full. The rain was freezing my tired body. I needed to find some sort of shelter. Gathering what strength I had left I rose to my feet. Taking a quick glance it looked like I had crashed somewhere in the woods, on the outskirts of town. I was only a few miles to freedom. Though as much as I wanted to keep going I knew I needed somewhere to rest. I picked up my shotgun and began my walk.
