Walking on the path, Gatomon noticed that it was getting darker, and soon it would be nighttime. In the Digital World, it wasn't a good idea to be out after dark. "I've got to find that cave soon,"she thought, "and I wonder who in the world Vermilimon is?" Then, as quick as a Veggiemon ruining soup, a small shape jumped out onto the path ahead of her!

"Found ya!" cried the shape, jumping up and down. "Now your turn, now your turn!"

Quickly hiding her surprise, Gatomon cautiously moved closer, trying to see the dark form clearly. What she saw was a small virus-type Digimon in the shape of a worm. Its head was yellow with blue, lightning-shaped streaks where its eyes should be. "Are you Vermilimon?" she asked.

"Vermilimon? Vermilimon?!" The shape shreiked. Then it rolled over on its back, waving its tiny legs in the air, and letting loose with a series of high-pitched noises that Gatomon supposed to be laughter. Finally rolling back over, the figure said(a little out of breath from laughing), "You thought that I was Vermilimon? I'm only Kunemon, a night Digimon. I was out playing hide-and-seek with my Dokunemon friends, but they used their Invisibility technique to hide from me. I thought that you were one of them."

"What is a Dokunemon? Oh, never mind, that's not important. Why did you think my question was so funny?" asked Gatomon.

"Because I'm a rookie, and Vermilimon is a big ultimate Digimon. I thought everyone knew who Vermilimon was. You must be from far, far away to not know him, because he has traveled all over this island," said Kunemon.

Well, since everyone knows Vermilimon," Gatomon said, "I suppose that means that you can show me where he lives, right?

"Hmm..." he said, "I guess I could show you his cave, but I'm not going in there with you!"

"Why not?" asked Gatomon. Are you scared of something?"

"Sometimes he gets cranky," said Kunemon. "I guess its not his fault he's getting old, but he scares me."

"Ultimate or no ultimate, he doesn't scare me," Gatomon said bravely. "Now, are you going to take me to his cave, or not?"

Kunemon thought "I guess so. But first I need to do something." Turning to scan the woods behind them, he cried to his friends, "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" He listened for a moment, then sighed. "They do this to me every time. Well, I don't care if they stay out all night. I'm not going to go looking for them." That said, he stomped off into the dark woods, making Gatomon run to keep up.

After walking for about ten minutes, Kunemon stopped, a little winded, at the mouth of a large cave. "Here we are," he panted," and here I go." As he skittered back into the darkness, Gatomon heard him cry, "Good Luck!"

Gatomon, not out of breath at all, was watching him leave when she heard a slight noise behind her. Whirling around, she found herself face to face with two fiery green eyes. As she crouched down low, she heard "Vermilimon Blaze!"As the fire of his attack surrounded her, Gatomon knew that she had no hope for survival.
