Kara lets herself into Lena's office, not breaking her stride for even a millisecond when Lena stared up at her bleary-eyed.
"Come on, you."
Lena just keeps staring at her, clearly a bit out of it, as Kara pulls her chair back from her desk and leverages her hands under Lena's arms to lift her onto her feet, taking a second to grab Lena's things from her desk and dumping them into Lena's laptop bag before grabbing Lena's purse.
She hooks it over her shoulder and wraps a steadying arm around Lena's waist, not happy with the way she wobbles in place where she left the CEO standing.
Lena finds her voice when Kara starts to lead her away from her desk and towards the door, not happy that she is being pulled away from the work she was struggling to do since everything is blurry. "I have work to do."
"Lena, you are not allowed to come to work when you're sick, you'll just make yourself worse and be miserable. I'm going to take you home so you can rest properly." Kara's tone leaves no room for arguments, no space for Lena to fight with her.
Of course Lena still tries. "Just a bit longer?"
"Nope, come on." Kara has to pull Lena along slightly because Lena digs her heels in, trying to turn back to her desk even though Kara has all of her things, and she can barely stand on her own because of how dizzy she is.
Lena huffs but has to go with her, Kara's grip to tight to wriggle out of. They pass Jess' desk and Kara calls out a jovial, "thanks for calling me Jess, I'll bring her back in tip-top condition, I promise."
"You got it, take care." Jess smiles at the pair, glad that there is someone she can call when Lena gets herself into this state.
It's not the first time that Lena has worked herself so hard that she neglects herself, not taking care of herself enough so she gets sick and is eventually forced to take a break, usually that break is spent napping on her office couch but now that Kara is in the picture Jess can call her and get her to take Lena home for the first time ever.
It also works out for Jess though, she won't have to listen to Lena being all whiny because she's sick, something Lena would rather take a bullet to the head than admit to when she's healthy again.
Lena can't focus enough to see where Kara is leading her, but she knows that she is safe with the blonde and doesn't kick up too much of a fuss just a few quiet complaints here and there that are easy to ignore because of the cute way she is snuggling into Kara's side for warmth, shivers running through her body.
Kara takes her out to her own car, fishing Lena's keys out from her laptop bag and clicking her tongue, disappointed that Lena drove in this state. She's shocked that she even made it here in one piece.
Lena is settled into the passenger seat and bats away Kara's hands when she tries to buckle her in, determined to do it herself. "I've got it…go drive."
Kara rolls her eyes all the way to the other side of the car, taking her time adjusting the seat and ignoring the threats of violence that will occur to her if she scratches Lena's car.
Half way back to Lena's place the sick woman starts shivering and since she didn't wear a jacket, it's up to Kara to shrug her own sweater off at a red light and toss it at Lena with a command to put it on.
Lena is fast asleep by the time Kara parks up and is around by the passenger side to collect the whiny little scientist from her seat and rather than waking her up, she slips her hands beneath her and very gently holds her against her chest, smiling down at Lena because of how utterly adorable she is wrapped up in her sweater with her nose scrunched up in her sleep.
She's careful not to jolt Lena too much on the trip up to the penthouse apartment and uses her key to let them inside when they get up to the top floor. Kara heads right to the bedroom, familiar with it for the times that she has stayed over with her girlfriend and secretly happy that they have an excuse to spend the next few days together, even if it is because Lena is run down.
Kara has always liked mending things, loving every imperfection she finds and making what's fixable fixed. Now she gets to nurse her favourite person back to health with homemade soup and snuggles. It's a win-win, Lena gets better, and Kara gets to feel good while making Lena feel good.
With no other options, Kara places Lena down on top of the duvet and then pulls it back on the other side first so she can then rearrange Lena onto that side and then pull it over her once her shoes are off her feet.
Kara winces at the heels she has just removed and carefully places them on the shoe rack in Lena's closet, convinced that Lena has a masochistic streak to not only take herself off to work when she's sick but to do it in heels.
When she's sure that Lena is comfortable and fast asleep she takes herself off to the kitchen to scour the cupboards for ingredients to make soup with, finding everything she needs fairly easily and getting right to work, texting Eliza to make sure that she has the right recipe.
She's only ever made soup once before and that was for Alex last time she got sick and it was a hit then, one of the only things she can make without burning the kitchen down and got five out of five stars from her then-sick sister.
Kara makes quick work of it, following the recipe to a T and checking on Lena periodically, happy that she's in such a deep sleep that she isn't moving from her position, the woman needs the rest and deserves it more than anyone.
The soup is set aside when it's done, Kara's happy to wait until Lena wakes up for her to have it and she doesn't want to disturb her unnecessarily.
Instead, Kara finds a book from Lena's heavily stocked bookshelves in her home office, which is also where she dumped Lena's laptop bag with all of her work. With one last trip to Lena's purse to grab her phone, just in case anyone calls, she takes them back to the bedroom, climbing into the bed next to Lena and propping the pillows up more.
As she opens the book, she glances down at her girlfriend, all snuggly now that she's in bed and resting and can't help but to admit to herself that this feels a lot like love.
