1 Late Night

Sam raised his eyebrows at the sound of a knock on his apartment door.

The clock next to his chair read 2:20 am.

Who else could be up at this time, and what the hell do they want? he thought.

He got up reluctantly and opened the door. Josh was standing on the other side.

"What are you doing here?"

"I don't know."

"You don't know why you're here?"

"Nope."

"Josh-"

"I couldn't sleep."

"So you came over here to bother me?"

"You weren't sleeping, either. I saw your light on."

"I could have fallen asleep with the light on."

"You don't do that. You've never done that. Not at home."

"Josh, why are you here?"

"I don't know."

"Do you need to come in?"

Josh didn't say anything. He didn't need to. Sam had gotten the hint.

"It's been awhile, hasn't it?" Sam asked him.

He nodded.

Sam let him in.
