Technically, I suppose this is a crossover with Dogma, since I had Kevin Smith's versions of God and the Metatron (the Voice of God) in mind when I wrote it, but really, it doesn't depend on that. You can visualize whatever versions of the two you want.

Just a reminder if you missed this part in the summary: This contains spoilers for the sixth season of Buffy.

All of Heaven shuddered with the disturbance.

The spell coiled and twisted, a fiery, rotting tendril, probing and seeking its target.

Angels rallied, abandoning their posts, running to reinforce the borders.

All but one.

Countless eons of experience as the Voice had taught him, and so he waited, watching Her.

Her eyes were closed. She shimmered, faintly, with concentration. She spoke.

"Bring her to Me."

The Metatron did not ask who. He knew who. He found her, wide-eyed and wondering at all the commotion, and led her to God.

Her eyes were still closed. She held out one hand to the awed soul, clasping both trembling hands in Hers.

She spoke three words, in Her powerful, resonant voice. Her true voice.

"You will return."

She opened Her eyes, and as She did, a crack appeared above them. A small crack in the very fabric of Heaven.

Small, but enough. The spell darted through, seizing the startled soul in its whip-like grip. Without a sound, she was gone, and Heaven was whole once more.

Buffy awoke, and her soul began to scream.

It did not stop.
