He watches her from the couch as she wraps the last of Dawn's
Presents. He loves the way she bites her bottom lip in concentration.
And the way her fingers fold the wrapping paper just right.
She is almost done wrapping the gift when she realizes for the first
time that the paper won't fit all the way around.
The look on her face is priceless and he can't help but chuckle.
She glances up at him and smiles sheepishly.

"I can save the world, but I can't wrap a present properly."
She laughs at herself.

"I told you it wasn't long enough." He points out.

"Shush." Is her only reply.

In the soft candle light she looks like an angel.
And as she re-wraps Dawn's present, her eyes sparkle in the flickering
flames of the fire they lit about an hour ago.
Christmas music plays softly in the background and he represses a laugh
as she gets the tape tangled slightly.
He can tell she's over tired. Its painfully obvious.
But she manages to get the last present wrapped. And each of them makes
it under the tree safely.
Then, and only then, does he get up and go to her.
She would have gotten mad if he had disturbed her while she had been
wrapping, but she was done now.
She looks up as he stands over her, her warm brown eyes melting him.
He reaches for her hands and helps her to her feet, holding her tightly
against his chest.
Her slender fingers dance across his back, making him shiver.

"Lets go to bed." He whispers into her ear.

But she shakes her head and sighs.
"I still need to patrol. Evil doesn't rest on Christmas
eve like us normal people."

He tilts her head up and kisses her gently before pulling back to look
at her, his ice blue eyes making her smile.

"Leave them for tonight, luv." He murmurs.

"But then who will save the world?"

"Someone else."

She smiles as he kisses her again. Deeper this time.
And she has to agree.
Someone else can save the world tonight.
