Start the Fire
Cat leaned back from her computer, and cracked her sore knuckles. "Man, I finally finished chapter 22!" She exclaimed to her friend (and roommate) Lauren. Lauren looked up briefly, before turning back to her computer which was back to back with Charlotte's. "Well what do you want, an award?" She said rolling her eyes.
"That would really, really be nice. A nice platinum one, with pretty flames..." Cat sighed wistfully, staring at the wall. She grinned and glanced around the room. "This place is a shit hole." She announced, taking in the heaps of dirty clothes, the take out food boxes lying in heaps on the floor and the scattered papers.
"No shit." Lauren replied sarcastically.
"Bitch"
"Asshole."
"Slut."
"Whore."
"Fucker."
"Bastard."
"Ho."
"Skank."
"Cunt."
"Bob."
"Bob?"
"Bob." Lauren repeated, with more force behind it.
"Bob?"
"I couldn't think of anything else!" Lauren yelled, trying to justify it.
Cat stared for another second. "Right."
"We really need to take the garbage out."
"Yeah, we probably should." Cat said, but made no move to put her words into action.
Lauren sighed, "If we're thinking of having a MST weekend we should at least take out the trash and clear the laundry. Our friends aren't going to have anywhere to sleep."
"Right."
"And let's remember last time-Jessica with the panties on her head?"
"Hey, I'm not the one who has underwear scattered everywhere."
"That's right. You're the one who never has clean socks because they're all on the floor."
"Exactly."
"Oh come on." Lauren said, standing up and grabbing a few bags.
Cat groaned, but followed, grabbing an armful of trash. They had a hard time navigating through the halls as they could barely see over the mountains of trash they were carrying.
After a minute or two, they were outside their dorm, and in the parking lot near the Dumpster. They both tried to hurry as the Dumpster was just not pleasant to be around, and they wanted to spend the least amount of time near it as possible. As Lauren was throwing the last bag in, something caught her eye. It looked like metal, so she stooped down to investigate. It turned out to be a long dagger, with an intricate hilt- it was marked with blue and silver designs that formed a moon of sorts. "Hey Cat!" She called out.
Cat turned to see what had caught her friend's attention when she nearly tripped over something. It was two throwing stars. Each were sliver with black swirls, and two rubies set in the middle. She picked it up, turning them over. They fit into her palms perfectly. She noticed a red star directly in the middle of the rubies: So close in color she nearly didn't see them. She stood up, still fingering them. Cat started to walk over to Lauren when she suddenly saw an extremely bright light shine directly at her, blinding her. All she could hear was her friend's shocked gasp mingle with her own. Shock soon led to pain, as the light seemed to absorb into Cat's skin. She felt as though she was melting into something completely different. She screamed as she felt her spine twist and start to grow. Fire was burning its way through her veins: she was in agony.
Lauren tried to scream, but it caught in her throat. She was unable to scream, to breathe. The light was suffocating her. She couldn't move, open her eyes: She could feel changes happening to her body, and she wanted to know what was happening. She was soon relieved of the problem when her sight blackened and she lost consciousness.
A girl with ghostly pale skin and metallic silver hair and a girl with royal purple hair and peach skin fell in their place.
