I was standing there. My human-self Rachel. There was a huge polar bear right next to me. A couple of lionesses, and a buffalo in the spacecraft called the Blade Ship. All of my friends were watching on the viewing screen. Tobias in human form. Crying. Then the polar bear swung. Swung his huge fist at his head, which would kill me.

But I ducked. I wouldn't die like that. I wouldn't go down without a fight. I knew this was a suicide mission but I wouldn't go down like that. I couldn't! I crawled, no scampered, under the bear's legs. I tried to run but one of the lions pounced on me. A flailed. I was being bitten and clawed by the two lions. I was bleeding. Gashes in my arms and legs. I managed to get them off of me and I bolted toward the door. Tried to open it and jump out, maybe survive the fall. But the air pressure was too much. I couldn't open it! And then the buffalo put its attention on me.

He charged. Charged at full speed. He would have killed me if I hadn't dodged him. He smashed straight into the wall. Broke his neck. I got up. I was very distorted. Very bloody. Very tired. I saw the view screen. I saw all my friends. Then I saw a man. The polar bear out of morph. Holding a dracon beam. I looked at my friends. "You fight well human," the controller said to me. Then he shot.

TSSWWWEEEE! The familiar shot of a dracon beam rang through the space ship. Before I knew it, I was on the ground. But not dead. I looked up. There was a big whole in the wall, and I could see the air and ground through it. It was my chance! I groped my way up as the controller fumbled with the dracon beam. I jumped. He shot. It was simultaneous.

I felt the searing pain of the beam just nick my shoulder, but I wasn't dead! I had escaped! Then I looked down, and saw the ground rushing up towards me. I closed my eyes, expecting a messy, but dignified death. It was at least a minute later, and I hadn't felt anything yet. I opened my eyes.

I was still in the air, being carried! I looked up to see a familiar face. "Tobias!" I yelled, relief filling my body.

In the flesh.well, sort of, answered the hawk. I was so happy. I wasn't dead. I had been given a second chance. I looked up, and saw the sun on the horizon. I was alive, and now, it was time to go kick some Yeerk butt!
