Telling Fantasy From Reality
It has come to my attention that some folks, (i.e. Mundanes) think we science fiction fanatics have trouble telling fantasy from reality. I can prove otherwise. If we can keep the following straight we can handle any form of reality you shoot at us!
The air craft carrier "Enterprise," is real. It was named after the sailing vessel.
The star ship Enterprise is not real. It was named after the air craft carrier and the sailing vessel.
The space shuttle Enterprise is real. Everyone but Gerald Ford knows it was named after the fictional star ship. Ford thinks it was named after the air craft carrier.
The deep space probe, Voyager, is real. I haven't the slightest idea what it was named after. :0)
The star ship Voyager is not real. It was named after the space probe.
The minivan, Voyager is real. It was named after who knows which. Only the manufacturer knows for sure.
Lt. Uhura isn't real. She is a character on Star Trek, named after the Swahili word for freedom.
The satellite Uhura is real. It was probably named after the Star Trek character. Anyway you can't convince me any differently.
Deep Space Nine is not real. It is a fictional space station on Star Trek.
Deep Space One is real. It is a probe NASA launched. Now I just wonder why they named it what they did? :0)
Leonard McCoy is not real. He is a fictional character played by Deforest Kelley.
Leonard Nimoy is real. He plays a fictional character who keeps bugging Leonard McCoy.
As I said, Leonard McCoy is not real. He is the name of the fictional doctor on Star Trek, but.....
Silvester McCoy is real. He plays the Doctor on Doctor Who.
Which Doctor?
No, not a witch doctor: Who.
Have we got it all straight now?
I hope this clears up any confusion you might have. :0)
