"Hey Monica did you do these case reports yet?" Doggett pushed a stack of files my way. I'd almost forgotten about those. "Uh, no I'm still working on them." I picked at the nonexistent dirt under my nails. The truth was, I was still caught up n the past days events. This whole thing... it was just so overwhelming, and I still didn't really comprehend everything. Even I was kind of amazed at my own theory. With the whole parallel universe idea, and everyone having a twin where one lives in this world and the other lives in another world similar to this one, only, they live out their sick fantasies there... it was all too much to take in. I'm not even sure *I* believed it 100%. So I can only imagine how John felt about it. When we were in that hospital room, and he told me to pull the plug, I knew perfectly well that he thought this was gonna be it. That I would never see my Doggett again. But I would not let him go so easily though.
I remember when I first got that phone call saying that John had been shot. I mean, how could I forget? I was so confused... how could he have been shot when he was right there in my apartment with me? Then I turned around and he was gone. All day I felt as if I was in some sort of bubble just floating along, like in a dream.
Ugh, I'm just glad it's all over now and that I have my *real* Doggett back. Of course, he has no recollection of what happened but somehow I feel our friendship has grown stronger.
"Mon? You've been sitting there staring at the wall for ten full minutes. You okay?"
I jolted back into reality. "Oh, uh yeah, I'm fine." I accidentally knocked over the container of pencils.
Doggett chuckled. "You know, on second thought how about getting a cup of coffee? I know this great little place down the street..."
Now how could I say no to that? "That sounds great," I grinned.
And we walked out of the office hand in hand.
