Sydney thought of Vaughn. 'What am I going to do?' She had plagued herself with the question since she'd kissed Will. 'I love Vaughn, no, I love Will, no, I… I don't know!' She threw down her briefing paper in frustration.

"Sydney?" Sydney felt he heart beat quicken. "Vaughn, well, fancy meeting you here." She said mischievously. This meeting had been planned for about two weeks so they could discuss her Mother. "I … I have something I need to tell you Sydney." Vaughn all but whispered. "Yes, Vaughn?" "I'm sorry Sydney, but… you're Father was killed in Mexico. He and Senior Garcia were shooting at each other and one of Garcia's bullets hit him. He didn't suffer at all, judging by…." Vaughn trailed off.

Sydney's heart stopped for a brief moment. "I…but he….NO!" Sydney cried. Her father? Dead? There was absolutely no way that could happen. 'Oh no!' Sydney remembered her last words to her father "Maybe you could just stay in Mexico this time!" She'd been angry at him. "I…I never told him that I really do love him, Vaughn!" Sydney cried harder. "I just can't believe that he died." "Sydney. I…I don't know what to say." Vaughn reached over and hugged her. "I won't tell you it will be all right because I remember that was the last thing I wanted to hear when my father died. But I will say, it will get better." "I have to tell you something Vaughn." Sydney's heart raced. She was sure now. She knew. "Yes, Sydney?" "I…I'm in love… with you." "I'm in love with you too, Sydney." Vaughn hesitated for a brief moment then lean over and gently kissed her warm, luscious, red lips. Sydney was surprise. For one who acted so strong and brave, he had the most gentle touch. She leaned into his kiss, deepening it. They both pulled away at the same nanosecond. Sydney rested her head on Vaughn's shoulder and tucked her face beneath his chin, surprised at how perfectly it fit there.
