Horrid Awakenings

I do not own Alucard or Maria.  Konami does.  I am borrowing them for a bit.

In the mausoleum where he slept, Alucard opened his amber eyes and looked around.  His pale hair billowed around his head.  Upon him was a small weight.  He looked down into the empty eye sockets of Maria Renard, the girl who had followed him there.

Alucard slid slowly but from under the remains.  Alucard looked with horror-stricken eyes at what time reduced the once beautiful girl into. The bones still wore the green dress, stocking, and shoes.  Upon the skull was still a fair amount of hair attached.  The green hair ribbon she wore was there.  He drew the ribbon from her hair and tucked it into his pocket.

He then drew the lid back on to the coffin.  With a heavy heart, he turned from the box and walked out, kicking up clouds of dust on the floor.  He had hoped she would still be alive.  Maybe he would have married her and had a family, but alas, that was his curse.  He closed the door to the mausoleum and vowed never to return.
