Infantry ain't mine, don't sue, blah blah blah..
Another Day, Another War
It was about to begin. The fight to capture Outpost Delta. We, the Collective Marines, had our mission. When the transport landed, our forces were to launch a full out attack against the Titan Marines and capture the assigned areas. It was the only way to conquer
Delta. Our three Squad Leaders were waiting at the entrance bay as the transport touched down. The doors slowly opened. The resting soldiers were awoken and the ones playing cards or lifting weights stood at attention. The three Squad Leaders looked us over gravely.
"Ok Soldiers. It's time to go to war."
A death order at best. Our current team consisted of 30 Marines, 15 Medics, 20 Ripper Gunners, 10 Grenadiers, and the 3 Squad Leaders. The doors fully opened, we rushed out. I myself jumped into a Light Attack Exosuit, and started slowly off. The others jumped into the APCs. Weaponless transports, and the Slicks, trucks with good firepower. We were off. The designated areas were the Amory, Operation's Central, and the
Water Storage building. Simple Enough.
Just as soon the enemy was upon us. My firepower had already taken down 5 Ripper Gunners. That was probably 5 more widows somewhere. Unfortunately my Exo had taken heavy damage, out of my Line Of Sight, a Ripper Gunner had snuck up behind me, and fired. My Exo exploded, and I made it out alive, but barley. I turned and threw a grenade. He exploded. I quickly took shelter inside the nearest building, which was the East Living Quarters. I waited until I was feeling better, and headed out into the battle.
10 more kills later, our team had been ravaged, but for every one of us, there was one of them heading to Hell. I had decided to help my team by getting an unguarded flag. I was heading to the Water Storage building, when I heard a noise from behind me. 10 Titan Marines were standing behind me. I gulped. They all aimed their guns. It seemed like slow motion as their fingers edged closer to the triggers… and then… they fired. I disappeared. Feeling dazed, I looked around. There was our last Sarge, who had just summoned me to help the forces. I felt about ready to kiss him, then I realized an enemy Slick was firing at us. I quickly loaded one of my two LAW rockets and fired at the Slick. The rocket contacted and the Slick exploded, revealing three Marines. The 6 of us fired, and the Marines were dead before they knew what was going on. A sound buzzed in my helmet, and I listened in.
"We've captured all the objectives. We've won. Report back to Transport. Next destination: Kliest's Ridge."
