Title: The Promise
Author: Anna
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: They sadly enough don't belong to me. (If they did, Generations would have never happened…grr…)
Category: Gen(!), angst, h/c, very, very, short
Author's Notes: I present to you (the unsuspecting public) the first fan fiction I ever wrote and it also is the first I ever finished. I wrote it two years ago, even before I saw a lot of the series. (I'd seen the movies. Even Generations. _ I always thought the whole Kirk and Spock friendship was really cool in the second and third movies. And the fifth movie was really all about the bond between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. So…This was born. Enjoy! Feedbacks welcome.
The Promise
Red lights flickered, the Red Alert still on and working. The bridge was in shambles, equipment and crewmen battered and strewn all over.
Spock opened his eyes and forced himself up on one elbow. He grabbed the railing and pulled himself to his knees, while scanning the room for any sign of life. Logic would have instantly told him that a shockwave such as that would surely render everybody dead. Yet, if he was still alive? Maybe he was not alone.
Forcing away the rising feelings of fear and desperation, half stood looking quickly around. His eyes came to rest on what he looked for.
"Jim," Spock whispered. "Jim," he tried to call it louder, his voice cracking. Spock pulled himself to his feet and stumbled towards his captain, his friend.
Spock's own injuries began to take their toll. He once again came to his knees next to Kirk.
He took Kirk by the shoulders and cradled his bloodied form.
"Jim, Jim wake up. Talk to me, captain." Spock requested.
Kirk blinked once or twice. "Spock?"
"Yes, Jim."
Kirk closed his eyes, to weak to manage the extra effort. "What happened?"
"Shockwave. Apparently from an explosion of a large object within force fields." Spock answered.
Kirk grimaced from the sharp pain exploding in his side. All of a sudden, the thought occurred to him that there might not be a way out this time. There might not be the ability to cheat death, cheat reality like so many times in the past. And frankly, that thought scared him.
"Spock?"
"Yes?"
Kirk shivered as another shot of pain seared through him. He thought he noticed Spock's grip tighten on him.
"Can I ask a favor, old friend?"
Spock almost afraid of the question that was coming tried to keep his voice steady. "Of course."
"Don't leave me."
"I won't. I promise you."
The End.
