Shards 1:  Shades of Blue

by Mel ^_^ (lerain@dingoblue.net.au)

Spoilers: ALL Night World and Forbidden Game books and characters (don't ask me how I've got them all in there but I have) I would also suggest if you haven't read Aurora Rose that you do, it's sort of a backdrop to this one. If you haven't don't worry, it isn't necessary

Disclaimers: All the night world characters are LJ Smiths (Duh) The characters; Lerain (me), Justin, Cronos, Falcon, Drake, are all my own. Storm is my brothers (curse him but he does come up with good ideas) Faith is my friend Andrea's and Tempest was my friend Natasha's idea.

Small blurb thing: "The five shards she called them. Five immortal beings with coloured fire in their bellies. A silver wolf, a golden Falcon, a red devil, a black man and a green sorceress. They will keep the peace after dooms day, or destroy it if they can not over come the shadows that follow each of them. The first, immortal silver wolf Lerain has been found, my the others come thick and fast..."

Prologue

Somewhere in history...

From the halls of grand Camelot he watched the flash of silver colour that burned across the dawning sky.  His eyes glittered gold, eating the distance in a feral glance.  The wood sparkled in grey tones of the winter it had been, and now would forever stay that colour, tainted in the explosion of power that had burst through it.  And from beneath the limbs of these silver trees a figure pelted away, silver cloak flying behind her and the horse she rode fiercely.  And the man by the window smiled after the retreating figure with coal black hair…

Eyes of hideous black viewed the carnage of man upon the battlefield.  Nostrils flared, taking in the stench of the burning and decaying flesh.   The hair fell in waves down her back in a deep plum, glowing against the colour of gold that still hung in the air after the explosion that had happened far off in the horizon.  Those devilish eyes followed the path of a falcon that flew off in the opposite direction.  With an equally devilish smile flash across her face, giving the hint of long teeth.  She then followed the falcon off into the distance…

Night was falling quickly in Rome.  The pillars that were high and strong against the night ebbed with the residue of the red fire that had scoured the sky.  Fire now burned in the grand city, the place where all roads met.  The inky wolf lifted its muzzle to the air and breathed in the delightful scent of the falling empire.  His dark eyes sparkled in dangerous glances, following the red fire.  And suddenly the wolf was no longer there and a man with olive skin stood in his place.  Moving silently he followed the scent that enticed him so and was gone…

The dark flash of light ignited the very air around it.  It inked the falling sun with its blackness but was gone before any could mention it.  Amethyst eyes watched the flash of light with more then just interest, but with hunger.  The burning huger that with many ages it would not die.  She flicked her wrist, the jiggle of bangles resounding in the silence as a witch light bloomed above her open palm.  She left the tower, a smile gracing her lips…

The night glistened with the green flash as it echoed through the sky. He watched, laid back  and lazy on the top of the grassy hill, through half closed eyes and smiled...

The Present...

She paused, turning her silver gaze from her from her apartment view to the tape deck on the table. It stopped, the tape ejected and she smiled. The tape glided to her though the air and she caught it easily and stared at it.

"I think," she mused softly, "I think it's time that Circle Daybreak knew what they were getting themselves into..."
