I've always entertained thoughts of Jonny and Jessie sending letters to each other in the fashion of Jean Leger and Lady Caroline, for they've always been the type to fool around like that, and so I was wondering how closely a correspondence from Jean to Caroline would resemble a letter from Jonny to Jessie.  I hope I caught the tones correctly, but if not …eh.  Read and review, mi amigos!

Dearest Caroline,

The hours on the mainland seem endless without you at my side.  The rising and setting of the sun is no longer painted so beautiful with your presence and instead it is all black and white.  My heart yearns to be with you once more, I cannot bear the time spent away and so I will be returning early, a fortnight after this letter should arrive in fact.  There is a shop girl here called Marie and I think she has taken a fancy to me, so I shall bring you to the mainland the next time I must leave the island, for nothing I am saying seems to make this girl realize that I belong wholly and eternally to you, my beloved Lady Caroline.  Oh, how my heart beats fonder with the tender thoughts of you, your beauty haunts my dreams.  How I miss you!  Please, give my regards to the house and the kitten I have sent to you.  I must hasten away now so that I may be with you presently …be well, my beloved,

Sincerely,

Jean Leger

Dearest Jessica,

The time you spend away from me is painful to bear, I am afraid that I am becoming bitter to my father and yours.  The compound here at Maine is empty without your golden laughter and the sun has taken to hiding behind the clouds …it is ever night here without you, my love.  I have spoken with both of our fathers and they have agreed that I may leave here to stay with you in Colombia with your lovely mother.  I will be bringing Bandit with me, for he has sunken into a languor in your absence and his eyes are begging me to allow him to come.  Your father has agreed to chauffeur me to the site and he will be staying one night before returning here.  You must come back home with me soon however, for there is a harpy of a girl named Maria who pesters me continually.  Send your mother my greetings, my darling Jessica, I will be there shortly.  Take care, cherished,

Sincerely,

Jonathan Quest
