"Serena please!" begged Darien trying to pull her back. He grabbed her arm and tried to pull her close. "Darien let me go!" she cried pathetically. He grabbed her arm, and jerked her toward him violently. She was crying, for her heart had been broken. She screamed and slapped him across the face. "I HATE YOU!" she bawled, crying harder. They were silent, as he let go. He held his face and turned away. Serena wanted to touch his face, but just as she was about to, she remembered what he said.and turned away. "Serena" he whispered. She had never hurt him before. But it wasn't the slap that hurt, it was what she said. She turned to walk away, Darien pleading for her to stop. He was just at the end of the bridge, when Darien couldn't hold it in any longer."MY GIFT IS MY SONG!" belted Darien from the middle of the bridge. Serena was leaving, and she turned back back and looked at him, pathetically, and hurt.
"And this one's for you" he sang sweetly. She wiped a tear off of her face,as she listened to the wind sweep past the trees like the river below them on marbled pebbles. The sky was dimming, from a golden purple sunset, to a blue, midnight black She wanted to run away. He couldn't even tell her that he loved her. She asked him, and he couldn't say yes. That was what had hurt her so. She merely sighed and looked at him, wiping more tears away with her sweater. She wanted to run, but still, something held her back. He looked at her, and if Serena wasn't mistaken, she saw tears on his face, and a hand mark where she had slapped him. But tears? Darien? Crying? Could it be possible? "And you can tell everybody, That this is your song. The words may be quite simple but, not that it's done. I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind, that I put down in words..." he sang sweetly. She looked at himstrangely, and cried. He had never sang before. He had always refused when she asked. She sniffled. "How wonderful life is, Now you're in thw world." He took a step closer, but she turned and looked at the ground, motioning him to stop. She reminded him of a wild horse, that if you moved, the slightest bit, they would run away, scared of being touched, or held. She merely cried more. She kept looking at the ground. He took a step back and tried again. She didn't look up. "Sat on the roof" he sang. "Kicked off the moss. But a few verses well they, they've got me quite cross. But the suns been kind While I wrote this song. It's for people like you that keep it turned on" She smiled and looked at him. He walked slowly walked over to her as he sang this She took in a bg breath when he stopped a few feet away, then smiled. "So excuse me forgetting, but these thing I do, you see I've forgotton if they're green or they're blue, But well, the thing is, while I've been loveing you, Your's got the sweetest eyes, I've ever seen!" he belted. He ran toward her, and held her in his arms. "And you can tell everybody, This is your song! It may be quite simple but, now that it's done. I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind, That I put down in words, How wonderful life is, NOW YOU'RE IN THE WOLRD!" He looked at her sweetly in the sunset light, and watched the beutiful reflection of the light shine through her hair. "Darien..." she whispered. "I love you, Serena. Until the end of time." And with that, they shared love's best treasure. Love's first REAL kiss.
