Dichotomy of the Mind
by Purpleyin (original poem copyright 2001)

A scream to pierce ears all
A scream of sorrow, of anguish, regret, remorse
This division of the truth
Splintering it into me, the cuts and bruises for where the pieces enter
This scream is for it and the pain
Releasing the scream as an effort vocalised into one truth that is undeniable
Single part divided into "heart and body" and "pain"
The pain being unstoppable, drowning conscious thoughts of hope
Hope being the only tie to reality
With falseties told to the receptors in my brain, believing only that pain
The pain interminable but not getting its way
For I can only pause instead of halt, no energy left to go the opposite
Every bit of energy spent in exertion, cancellation to a neutral stance
This division means to me, stripped of choice by another within
No longer allowing it to succeed
While still I fail for lack of trying
This double cause taking greatly from my dear mind
