There once was a time where we soared above the rest, just another breath of wind, living completely unnoticed, yet completely content. The malice of humans is what brought us down, confined to the harsh earth forever.
The explosion came quickly. It was completely unexpected by the Midori people. Before they knew it, innocents were fluttering down like so many papers strewn out an office window. Lana crashed into the ground, seemingly harder than her peers. She reached a fragile hand to her pale green face, but quickly drew her hand back. Blood? Something was not right. She glanced back, and saw her gentle wings, spread majestically against the bright moon. She closed her eyes and gathered energy. Lana's small feet lifted off of the grass and hovered about half a foot above the ground for a few seconds, but came down soon after. Her feet were tender and unprotected, for she never had much use for shoes or even feet.

Footsteps. Human footsteps. Everyone knew them, everyone feared them. Midoris knew what they meant; they meant trouble. They also knew what they brought; hate, fear, prejudice and violence. There wasnt a single Midori who wasnt trembling that cold night. They all knew what had to be done, the only thing that could be done. They fled into the dark, dense forest, seemingly without a single footstep. There they stayed and built their homes, never quite happy with the way they lived, but living anyway.
