Disclaimer: I don't own Angel, Cordelia, or Conner, Joss Whedon does. Lucky man.

Summary: Angel and Cordelia's thoughts the morning after they fall asleep with Conner.

Rating: G-PG

A/N: Set after Provider, just say that Angel and Cordelia fell asleep where the episode left off.

Angel sighed, adjusting slightly in his sleep. He felt something next to him, and opened his eyes. Conner lay next to him, snuggled between Angel and Cordelia. They had fallen asleep, holding Conner. Angel realized that he was holding something in his hand. He moved slightly, leaning forward to find that Cordelia's hand was intertwined with his.

For a minute, that startled him. He wasn't supposed to be doing this, especially not with Cordelia. He had a curse, one that should never be broken ever again. No, it was far safer that he didn't lean across the bed, and kiss her softly on the forehead, the way he had been longing to.

Despite his mental warnings, he did that anyway, and Cordelia smiled a small smile when he did. Angel lay back in his original position, closing his eyes, pretending that this was okay, that he could love a woman.

A few moments later, Cordelia opened her eyes, and seemed shocked that she had fallen asleep in Angel's bed. She was going to move, before Angel woke up and they had a big awkward moment between them. She moved to do so, but noticed that Angel was holding her hand, and her other hand was underneath Conner.

Cordelia sighed. She was stuck here until the big embarrassing moment came. She stared around the room, waiting. Finally she looked at Angel, who seemed lost in a happy dream. Cordelia smiled. He was beautiful, strong chiseled features, good taste in clothes. He was the kind of guy she would go for, except for the whole vampire part.

Cordelia caught herself. Wasn't this what she wanted guys to say about her? Beautiful, classy, human? And she wasn't human anymore, so did that mean she couldn't be with them?

Cordelia sighed again, still looking at Angel. He didn't care that she wasn't human, he had a demon inside of him too. Before she could stop herself she planted a kiss on his lips, and lay back down.

His curse, he could never love her though, because of his curse. And would he? Cordelia wondered. After all, the love of his life has always been a blonde petite vampire slayer that resides in Sunnydale. If he wouldn't break his curse for her, why would he for Cordelia?

Cordelia banished these thoughts, closing her eyes. She dreamed of a world where curses didn't exist, and vampire slayers didn't fall in love with vampires. If only, she thought.

Angel opened his eyes again. He could have sworn someone had just kissed him. He saw Cordelia's slow breathing, and scolded himself. Cordelia fell in love with movie stars, not vampires with a son. He saw her gorgeous face, and closed his eyes. If only, he thought.
