Fighting for the Grey

Aurora de la Noche

Disclaimer: standard, really. Not mine.

A/N: Still not DFF 11. I actually have started it, but… Hey, when inspiration strikes (painfully sometimes…), I'll take it! If I don't get reviews for these *non* DFF ones, though… Maybe there will be no more DFF! I don't really want to continue it. Does anyone even want me to? Or with Bertie Bott's rather silly thing? Anyway, here we go with this… Review! What if I threaten not to update DFF until I get… 10 reviews for this and Training? What'll ya do then, huh? Will you review?

Also, *oodles* of thanks go out to Chupa!! You're wonderful!! Thanks! Everyone thank Chupa; I probably wouldn't have fixed this prologue yet without her superb help.

Thanks also to Trinity and auruarkal! Yay! I've got people helping now! I'm happy!!

Right, then. On with the show!

Prologue

Everyone knows about the 'Light' side, and the 'Dark' side. Not many people are, forgive the pun, in the dark with regard to Death Eaters or the Order of the Phoenix. It is difficult to be when entire courses focus on these things; when it's in the curriculum, it's near impossible to remain ignorant. Some people are even aware that the Light cannot exist without the Dark. There has to be a balance.

Not everyone can be so pure or so tainted, though. We don't all have the luxury to such claims. There are those of us in between, though not for any lack of decisiveness. We aren't evil; we're not angels. It may even surprise some to know that we do have a definite place in this War. We have no Voldemort or Dumbledore, though we respect and fear both. We don't even have Ministry recognition (though technically, neither does Voldemort right now, or at least, not yet).

The world associates the Light with white, and the Dark with black. Both of those sides have been fine with that, even accepting 'their' shading for any 'official' reasons they may have. If anyone knew of us, they would call us Grey. Grey, though, is not what or who we are; it is what we fight for. We fight to keep the Grey in this world, when we need to fight at all. Ourselves, we run the spectrum. To add to the surprise of the newly enlightened, we even have Orders within ourselves. The highest rank is silver- the closest anyone can get to Grey, while the 'newbies' begin their training at purple- passion.

We are for Grey, and we will fight. A balance is nothing without its fulcrum.

A/N: Yes, I *am* aware that it's very short. It's the prologue to something greater than what it is. Hopefully I'll be able to go on with this soon. Now I've got help *g* maybe I'll get around to it sooner. (-:

Also, do know that the paragraphs *are* indented as I look at this on Word. Silly ffn, it always messes with formatting.
