Dislaimer:
Story Start!
Hard work.
When you had no talent, when you had nobody who wanted to teach you, or if you weren't blessed with guidance from others, hard work was all you could rely on. Hard work could overcome any challenge in life if you simply worked hard enough, that was the long and the short of it.
People hate you because of your looks?
Work so hard that you prove them wrong about you.
People hate you because you're not smart?
Work hard and get smarter.
People hate you because you're weak?
Work harder to get stronger.
"Uzumaki, your pay for the week."
That was his life, he worked hard because he had nothing. All he was born with was the stamina that it took to work hard, that was his only blessing in life. The fact he had a body that was capable of putting in the work, and he had the willpower to struggle through his hard work. He was not born with the brains to succeed without hard work, and he was not born in a country where his looks could get him any benefits. All he had going for him was the fact he was strong, and he only got strong because of his ability to work hard in life.
"Thanks."
"Keep putting in good work Uzumaki."
Naruto Uzumaki, a name that did not fit his looks at all, but his looks were what cursed him. If he was a cute girl his looks could be more accepted, but he was a man. He stood taller than his fellow Japanese man, he was more athletic in appearance when compared to them as well. He had hair that made people think he was a thug, blond and messy, and his blue eyes just stood out when compared to the eyes of most people around him. If lacked the same skin color and tone of the people around him, having peach skin of a more western complexion.
Some would call his looks exotic.
He was considered exotic by women, but that didn't help him make money to survive on. He was stupid, he learned things slower than others, and he lacked experience to work the better jobs where women that liked his looks worked. His normal jobs were usually where his boss was an older man, who would usually take his looks as those of a delinquent.
He was a good guy at heart.
Sometimes that was a problem.
"That... looks wrong..." Naruto muttered when he noticed a girl that seemed slightly younger than him, running away from strangely tall guy.
...
It was weirder than it sounded.
The girl was a shortstack, she seemed about his age, but she was on the very short side. It was possible that her head would only come up to maybe the middle of his stomach, but the clear indication of her age was her body. She was short, but she had wide hips, a petite waist, and outlandishly huge boobs. It wasn't a joke to say that she had literal melons in her shirt, each one of her boobs was a noticable amount bigger than her head was. Somehow they somewhat perkier than they had ANY reason to be, though there was a noticable weight to them.
Also she had horns, claws, and a tail.
She had horns coming out of her head and pointing backwards, her arms were like dragon claws, and she had a tail coming out from under her black cloak. She only wore a black cloak and a black thong, and she had pink hair and strange eyes.
The guy following her was tall, lanky, and had a face not even a mother could love.
Also horns.
"That looks wrong!" Naruto shouted when he realized that she was getting chased into an alley, and he heard the sound of something getting punched REALLY hard. He could never mistake the sound of flesh hitting flesh, so he jumped into the street and ran across it.
He was a good guy.
This was a time that was a problem, because his body would always move before his brain decided to think about if what he was doing was smart or not. Naruto rushed into the alley where he saw the man do something he never expected.
He hit the girl with magic or something like it.
"Your pain will last as long as I will it chaos dragon Ilulu-"
"1,000 Years of Death!"
"EEEEE!?" The man screamed in shock when he felt his asshole get assaulted, and his magic blew up in his own face. The girl just looked on in surprise when the dragon who attacked her was visibly in a strangely high amount of pain. He was then pushed into the trashcan as she saw and smelled a human man.
Naruto was a good person at heart.
So he picked up the weird girl, and started to run away before the man could recover from having his ass surprise fingered.
"Human?" Ilulu asked as she was carried by some random human.
A detail that Naruto had not noticed about her was that her ears were pointed, so he really was not just dealing with a cosplaying human. The fact she had just been attacked by a magical person, and called a chaos dragon, was another big hint.
"Can you make a long story short and tell me what is going on?"
"He's a dragon, and he's attacking me... why are you getting involved human, there isn't anything you can do to help me." Ilulu stated with a furrowed brow of distrust. She stared at the whisker marks on his cheeks with a raised eyebrow, her brow unfurrowing at the strange marks. "... Also... you shouldn't get involved, this has nothing to do with you?"
"You have a great point, I should not have gotten invovled, wasn't smart. Still, now that I know you're in danger, I won't regret helping you. So I'm going to help you... and me... since my life is in danger too." Naruto ran with her in his arms.
Ilulu shook her head.
"Your life isn't in danger, he has the follow rules. If you drop me and run, he can't attack you. So just do that and save your own-" Ilulu was conked on the head as Naruto slammed their foreheads together. She touched her forehead in surprise, and she saw his forehead had been split open by the headbutt.
"I just said I wasn't going to regret helping you, and I can't ignore you if you're in danger-"
"I don't care, I would rather die fighting than be helped by some human. I'll die if that is my fate." Ilulu glared at him as she touched her forehead again.
Naruto tucked and rolled underneath a broken fence, his shirt getting ripped, before he rolled back to his feet and continued to run. She smelled his blood and glanced at a wound on his back from the act of running away with her.
"Fate is bullshit."
"No it's not! We're all destined-"
"Fate is bullshit!" Naruto repeated louder as he slammed his head against hers again.
"No, it's not bullshit! Fate is fate, you can't avoid it, you can't deny it! My fate as a dragon is to destroy humans, not be helped by them!"
"BULLSHIT, I decide my fate and you decide your fate! I decided to help you, now decide to be helped by me! Here, I'll make the choice for you! I'm saving you, fucking deal with it dragon!" Naruto broke the skin on his forehead as he butted heads with her to try and knock her out. She looked at him with momentary shock when he yelled at her, and when he injured himself even further to try and knock her out cold.
"That is just fate though!"
"It's NOT fate, it's my choice! If you spout fate nonsense, then that makes me risking my life for you kind of pointless. If fate exists, then everything I've ever had to work hard for is worthless, every choice I've ever made is worthless, and my life is worthless. I'm not about to let my life become a pawn for fate, so I'm saving your life, now deal with it." Naruto could see his headbutts weren't doing anything, so he responded with the more appropriate action of giving her a noogie with his forehead.
"Your choice is to die."
"Then I die by my choice... you were going to die by your choice when you wanted to go out fighting. Doesn't seem like fate to me." Naruto stopped running to catch his breath. He realized that he was starting to run towards the forest.
...
That would be a stupid idea.
If dragons couldn't attack humans, then the best idea would be to go to a super populated area where safety came in the numbers of potential victims. Turning around, Naruto started to run again until he ran into a BBQ bar with a grin on his face.
Seriously, unless you planned on fighting, why would you ever want to run away into a more secluded area?
-2 Hours Later-
"He's just... standing there... menacingly." Ilulu stated as she looked out the window of the resturaunt and saw the dragon chasing her was just glaring at her hatefully. Naruto on the other hand was cooking a meal on the grill between them, while she rested her boobs on the table. She was balancing her plate on top of her boobs, and she kept sending Naruto suspicious glances.
Naruto was enjoying a meal.
"See, it wasn't out fate to die. As long as we stay in a populated area, we'll be fine, and you can regain your strength." Naruto smirked at his good planning.
Ilulu still sent him suspicious looks.
"... I'm a dragon, and you're a human. Why are you helping me?"
"Because I want to help you, I saw somebody in need. Dragon and human don't matter at that point." Naruto reasoned comfortably. Ilulu looked at him with her eyes narrowing dangerously.
"Humans are bad."
"I don't disagree, humans hate everything that is different than them by nature. Human nature kind of sucks."
"Then what makes you different?"
"I made a choice to not be like that. I don't want to be the kind of guy who hates others for stuff out of their control, so I try not to be that guy. If I work hard enough, I can change how people see me. Can't you do the same thing as a dragon, make a choice to be different?" Naruto asked her as he took all of the meat from the grill and divided it between them. Ilulu looked down at her plate, before she glanced back at Naruto with her brows knit together in confusion.
His words rang true.
Dragons made choices on which faction they would join, that was a choice they could make. Ilulu looked at his wounded forehead, and she could tell the wounds on his back were still stinging. She looked away from him for a moment, at the stranger who risked himself and got hurt in order to help her.
"You're lying."
The second she said that, a small piece of meat hit her face.
"Just shut up and eat, looks like tall and ugly out there has had enough and left." Naruto gestured to the window, and the dragon was nowhere to be seen anymore. Ilulu was shocked to find out that he was telling the truth.
The dragon had realized that he wasn't going to get the chance to kill her, decided it wasn't worth the wait, and left.
"... Thank you." Ilulu looked away when she said that.
No matter how much she wanted to argue, the fact that he DID put himself in harms way to save her life was an unavoidable truth. The fact that he succeeded in saving her life, and sending the harmony dragon away from her due to a cheap trick only cemented this fact. She looked at him more closely and saw there was a hint of worry in his eyes.
They were safe, what was he worried about?
'... This money was for rent... I should enjoy it, because I'm going to be homeless tomorrow.' Naruto didn't say his thoughts out loud. He was going to be homeless until he could get money to get another apartment. He didn't expect Ilulu to understand, and he didn't want to make her feel guilty about the choice that he had made. "So, do you have a place you can go, somebody I can take you to where you can be safe for real?" Naruto asked her.
She frowned.
"... Yes... and no... she might kill me too, I attacked her not long ago. We're in the same faction."
"Then apologize, if you apologize from the bottom of your heart. I'm sure that she will at least hear you out. I'll walk you there after we're done." Naruto stated with a cheeky grin. Ilulu nodded her head at him, and listened to his advice.
-Later-
"So you... you... Ilulu... YOU listened to a human, and that is why you're apologizing to me?"
Tohru could barely believe it.
"He saved my life... and his words confused me, so I thought I would listen is all. I still don't like humans, but he seems... different. Please, protect me from Clemene for tonight."
"He saved your life huh?" Tohru sat down and listened.
That sounded familiar to her.
"He picked me up, carried me, and kept me safe from Clemene until he got frustrated and left. I told him it was useless, that it was my fate to die-"
"Fate is bullshit." Tohru stated in a deadpan tone.
"Pfffffft!?" Ilulu choked on her air when Tohru used those EXACT words to her when she heard that. She looked at Tohru, a dragon, who had said the exact same words to her that a human had.
"It was my fate to die when I attacked a god, but I had my life saved by a human. Then I made the choice to become her maid. I mean, you made the choice to distrust humans because of what dragons told you. I made the choice to give humans a chance, and we're BOTH chaos dragons." Tohru kept her deadpan going.
It seemed Ilulu was in a mental state that would be willing to listen to reason.
"So how do I make the choice to give humans a chance, it doesn't make sense... have I been wrong this entire time about humans being our enemy?!"
"Yes."
"Say more than JUST yes!?"
"Most humans are our enemies, but not all. It seems you already know this human isn't your enemy, you should thank him tomorrow." Tohru stated simply.
-With Naruto-
"... Welp... get comfortable me, you knew what you were doing when you spent your money like that." Naruto sighed to himself as he made himself comfy on a park bench. That was what was going to happen when he spent just enough money to not be able to afford his rent. He had enough to feed himself, but not enough to pay for an apartment.
This was just a set back.
...
"HOLY CRAP DRAGONS EXIST!"
It just hit him.
