End #1
His tongue, as if acting on its own, pushed against Aragorn's lips. He did not respond, did not move for some time. Legolas kissed him -- but could not ignore the fact that he was not being kissed back. Slowly, gently, Aragorn pulled back. He looked at Legolas.
"Oh, Legolas," he said, the pity clear in his voice.
"Do not pity me," Legolas said sharply, his gaze boring into Aragorn. "You may hate me, you may fear me but do NOT pity me!" He raised the blade to cut his other wrist. Quickly, Aragorn reached up, pulled the blade from his grasp and hrew it to the ground.
"You may feel this way now," Aragorn said. "But--"
"You do not know how I feel," Legolas said angrily. "You will NEVER know how I feel. What you feel for Arwen is NOTHING to what I feel for you. I love you, Aragorn, more than life, more than anything." The tears were spilling down his cheeks now, but he ignored them.
"I know it," Aragorn said. "For some time, I have known it. I regret you feel this way. But my greatest regret is that I do not, I can not, love you. And for that, I am sorry." Aragorn kissed Legolas lightly on the forhead and walked away. Legolas ached for more, he wanted to be in Aragorn's arms forever. But he could not and would not.
Legolas picked up the blade from the ground and stopped his pain forever.
