Before the Ball
Mercury-
She stood in the open field, her feet only an inch away from the wet grass. She looked all
around at the sky, thinking and dreaming. She noticed that it was getting dark all around,
"The day ends to soon, and the night even sooner" she said to herself as she looked at the
horizon of fading light. The clouds around her had turned different shades of blue, pink,
yellow, and gray, they didn't block out the sky though. She looked up again and noticed
the stars coming out one by one, she first wound see a spark or two then the star would
shine. She turned around feeling the breeze wrap around her body, she loved the wind, it
was always so quiet and calm to her even if it was lifting her off the ground. Then she
saw the moon, or at least the part that was showing "It's going to be full soon" she
thought to herself "about a week". The clouds had remained all day but they were white
then and didn't cover the sun. Now they seemed to part as to show the moon and it's
bright shinning presence. She looked at it and thought that it was almost close enough to
fly to if you tried, but it was still hundreds of millions of miles away. She reached out
wishing to touch it, to be apart of it. Someday she would be apart of it, of the Kingdom,
the awe and splendor and the glory. She looked again at the horizon there was only blue
now. She looked again upwards to the moon and the stars and she swore to herself that
one day she would be apart of it.
A light coming from a lantern came up behind her. "Ami" a voice called. She turned
around to see a man of about nineteen standing there. She waved and ran to him. Before
she could land in front of him he caught her and held her in his arms. "Has my little
sister been playing in the fields again?"
"I was watching the stars come out."
"Oh, was it the stars or the moon?" He asked in a playful manner that suited him.
"Both really." She admitted shyly kind of embarrassed.
"Come on," he said to her as he put her down still holding her left hand. "we have to get
ready for the Ball tonight on the moon, after all it is the first time you and the other
princess will be at a ball." He looked at her and smiled as they started walking back to
the castle. "You don't want to be late to meet the other princesses do you?"
"No, I heard that Princess Serenity is very pretty." She said looking up worried.
"Yes, she looks like her mother and you've seen her right?" The little girl nodded.
"Well then all you have to worry about is if she and other princess are nice, and I'm sure
they are."
As they neared the castle the little blue haired girl of about eight years of age spoke
again. I know that the other girls and I are going to get along forever."
You know how the rest goes folks.
