I don't own Eva, don't sue. This was my idea of how the world would remember the efforts of Nerv and the Eva pilots. Enjoy!

Evangelion Museum

The family walked into the "World History Museum" and started walking towards the `Angel War' display area. Everybody in the world of 2145 knew the story of the Angel War. After the invasion of Nerv and Third Impact both failed, all of Nerv's records were declassified. The display area held a lot of memorabilia for Nerv. It contained a scale model of the Geo-front, video footage of the battles between the Evangelions and the Angels. There was even a huge storage area that contained Unit 01, the only remaining Eva. The family walked along looking at the displays of the Nerv personnel containing preserved artifacts of their lives.

Misato Katsuragi, who died two years after the end of the Angel Wars in a car crash. Along with many photographs, her display contained her famous red jacket and her gun. Unsurprisingly, considering the subject, this was the most popular display of teenage boys.

Doctor Ritsuko Akagi. She spent the final ten years of her life in a wheelchair because of a bullet in her spine, dieing of heart failure two days before be awarded the Nobel prize for science in the development remote synchronisation techniques that allowed humanity to explore the solar system.

Maya Ibuki committed suicide a week after Doctor Akagi's death. Gendo Ikari was executed in prison for crimes against humanity. Touji Suzuhara married Hikari Horaki and they both died of old age, having had no children. Makoto Hyuga drifted into relative obscurity, found shot dead in an alleyway in New York fifteen years after the delusion of Nerv. Shigeru Aoba became a semi-famous musician and was killed in a plain crash in 2032. Kouzou Fuyutsuki retired after he left Nerv, living out his life in Gora. Kensuke Aida became a software multi-billionaire before dieing of a stress related heart condition at forty-five, he was unmarried.

The family finally moved to the three most popular displays in the museum. Those of the three Children. The larges of the three was for the Second Child, Asuka Langley Sohryu. After her days as an Eva pilot, Asuka had a noteworthy carrier as both a model and an actress before `burning out' at thirty and dieing of a drug overdose. Asuka's display showed her plugsuit and many photos and movie clips from her three carriers. Like Asuka's display, that of Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami displayed their plugsuits and many photos and clips of them piloting Eva. They do not, however, show anything after the dissolution of Nerv. After that Shinji and Rei disappeared from the history books, there is no record of them ever being reported dead.

The father of the family beckoned to his children.

"Shinji, Rei. Come look at you most famous ancestors." He said.

The ten year old boy and his eight year old sister came running up to look at the photos.

"He looks like Rei." The boy said pointing at the picture of Shinji, "And she looks like me."

This time he was pointing at the picture of Rei Ayanami. He pushed a strand of light blue hair out of his eyes and turned his red eyes into his sisters blue. Running her hand through her brown hair, Rei shrugged.

"Thank you, father. Can we go home now?" Shinji said.

The father nodded and the Ikari-Ayanami family walked slowly out of the museum, the mother glad that her children had a chance to see their ancestors.
