Stare

Genre: Poetry Fic
Disclaimer: They aren't mine. Trust me, if they were the
show would be totally different!
Author's Note: This poem was written back in August of 2001 with
absolutely no thought of the show in my mind. I
re-read it today and thought of Josh and Donna.

He stares with broken precision
Around the small space of my life.
He blinks only when I need him to see
And glares at what I wish him to miss.
He's everything I want nothing of
And everything I can't live without.
He's frustrating in his despondent fury
And glamorous in his loving spells.
He's here and he isn't as he watches her intently.
She's the reason he'd rather be somewhere else.
But I love him as I hate the way I love him.
And he doesn't love me in the way he loves her.
But I can live with that.
The knowing I'll never be to him what she is.
I can survive the heartache and one final blink.
One more empty stare.
