"Davis Motomiya?" said Mr. Bunnes. "Would you care to tell us what you are writing?"

"Not really." Davis said. Then realizing who he was talking to, he sat up. "I mean, yeah. I would." Now it was Mr. Bunnes turn to be surprised. Davis stood up and read aloud:

"I have always wondered, what is math? Now I know. It is the process of added, subtracting, multipling, or dividing numbers. It is also measuring! Every day, we measure one thing or another. We also think of shapes as math! And geometery too! I could go on and on of the list. But almost all of them have something in common. They all have something to do with numbers. Thank you! Now, my dearest math teacher, take this report I have written over the days of hard study and you teaching me. Maybe you will use it someday."

"Deep!" Kari chuckled. "Deep!"

Davis looked hurt. Tears started to well up in his eyes. He wiped them away. 'I can't cry. Never. Never.' He walked back to his seat, the piece of paper in his hands. Davis felt like making it into an airplane and flying it at Kari's head. Then he remembered that she was his dream girl. 'I can't blow it.' "Oh. Here's the paper." he said, giving it to the math teacher, who looked astonished. "Well done! Well done! We should all give this young writer a hand!" Mr. Bunnes said. Everyone started clapping at his cue. Even Kari.
