I love this song so much! I can't help it! I just can't resist Def Leppard! This is their song, Blood Runs Cold. If you've never heard this song, you seriously need to get it downloaded and listen to it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Zim or this song.

/I heard this line one time 'bout tryin' to save the world/
/But have you ever tried to save yourself?/
/A wide-eyed suicide drive/
/Remains a fake/
/As if you'd ever/
/Ever go and make that same mistake/
Dib lay curled up on his bed, a rare look of complete relaxation on his face. Gaz sat quietly watching him slumber from the foot of his bed
/Strung out as the night comes crawlin'/
/Your halo of thorns if fallin'/
Life could be pretty hard on Dib, and Gaz worried at times about her big brother.
/Blood runs cold/
/I feel it in my bones/
/But you don't know your time is up/
/Blood runs cold/
It never seemed right that Dib spent all his time chasing Zim, just to protect and prove himself to the same people who had always made his life so miserable. No matter what he did, they always loved to torment him.
/Somebody somewhere is screamin' out the words/
/But do they ever really ease the pain/
Gaz knew Dib was wearing himself out chasing Zim all the time. Every day he seemed more tired, and yet more obsessed, than the day before.
/I guess what I'm trying to say/
/Is whose life is it anyway because livin'/
/Living is the best revenge you can play/
She had noticed that he was a bit thinner and more sickly than he had just a few weeks ago. His paled face gave him a ghostly look. She doubted he even noticed the change in himself.
/This fall from grace/
/I see your face/
/It's over/
She had to wonder how much longer he'd last like this.
/Blood runs cold/
/I feel it in my bones/
/But you don't know your time is up/
/Blood runs cold/
They rarely showed it, but Dib and Gaz cared a lot about each other. That was how it was in their family, there was plenty of love, but it was usually well hidden. Dib had always been the one who had the easiest time showing it.
/From you love was kind/
/Resolved left scarred and blind/
/Wasted and naked in the wings/
/Denying twist of fate/
/Demanding heaven's gate/
/Lying in wait above the wind/
Gaz wished her brother would just forget about Zim and put himself and his happiness first for once. She couldn't stand just watching him deteriorate like this. She knew he needed a break. He needed a chance to rest.
/Strung out as the night comes crawlin'/
/Your halo of thorns is fallin'/
/Blood runs cold/
/I feel it in my bones/
/But you don't know your time is up/
/Blood runs cold/
She wished she could just get him to stop the hero act, if just for one day.
/Blood runs cold/
Dib need more rest than sleep could ever provide.
/Blood runs cold/

Agh! I can't believe I actually wrote a songfic! I used to hate these things! (Note: USED to!) I just couldn't resist this song. Whenever I hear it I can't help but think of Dib.
Anyway, I know Gaz was a bit OOC, but too bad! Oh, and make sure to review, and if you have any problems with this story, just give me some constructive criticism. (But be nice about it or I'll have to take out my frustrations on my friends again. They're already scared of me enough.)
