Love Is Forever

Harry was so nervous, he was beyond nervous. He was late, it was Valentine's Day, (night now), and Hermione was waiting.
He took a deep breath and walked up to the Fat Lady. "Erm, Love is forever?" Harry asked, inwardly thinking that Valentine's Day was way over hyped. "So true," beamed the Fat Lady, swinging open. And Harry stepped inside...
When he stepped across the threshold, Harry let out the breath that he had been holding: the common room was empty. Wait, was that arm-chair breathing? It was, and Harry's heart was sinking...
There she was: fierce, deadly, and downright mad. "You're late," she said, her voice as soft as the velvet sky.
"Uh..." Harry stammered, mentally cursing the female sex. "I-I-I-just..."
"Where were you?" She was dressed to kill, wearing a short, violet dress. A necklace Harry had given her hung around her neck.
"Well...Um, Qu-Qui-Quiddich?"
"Quiddich is more important than me?" Harry wondered how many times they had gone over this.
"N-N-No...I-I-I, well, hehe, have to, sort of..." Harry drifted off. Hermione was staring at him like he was a total loose. "Wh-what??" he asked, trying to sound innocent.
"Oh, Harry..." she whispered. Tears glisten like diamonds in her eyes. Oh, dammit! Why do girls have to be so, so innocent looking?
"Herm!" Harry burst out. "Why do you do this to me?"
"Harry..." Tears were rolling down her cheeks now. "Harry..." God, do all girls act like this?
Harry fumbled with the words in his mouth. He couldn't think of anything to say that didn't sound stupid. "Umm..."
"Oh, Harry...Cho, Cho and you..." She turned her icy blue eyes on him.
Harry gaped. Was this what it was about. Well the thought of Cho and him was well, laughable. "Herm, that's not true...You should know that..."
Hermione looked coldly at him. "I saw, Harry... Don't deny it..." What was she talking about?
"Herm! I don't- I wouldn't- I never-" Harry felt like a fish, his mouth moving pointlessly as her ears seemed to be closed.
"It's over, Harry," Was it April Fool's Day? After four years they were breaking up?
"Herm...Please..." He wondered if he should kneel in front of her. Would that be good enough?
"Good bye, Harry..." She was turning, everything was in slow motion... She had turned her back on him! She was leaving the room...
"Herm..." He whispered. No... Come back... But she didn't. He stood there for what felt like hours, then turned the other way and went out the Portrait Hole. Someone was talking... Shut up! he thought vaguely, and he steered himself outside to the Quiddich Pitch.
He had only one love now, flying... But not even that could console him. He got onto his Nimbus and started flying any which way, not steering. The Nimbus took him over the murky lake, barely visible in the pitch black darkness.
Harry reached into his coat pocket and took out the diamond rose he was going to give to Hermione. He held it out away from him, far away and let go, closing his eyes. Far downward he heard the splash of the rose as it hit the deep body of water.
He looked up at the moon, tears rolling down his face. And who says "Love is Forever?"
