Okay, this is really short, but I am planning on making a sequel to this eventually. I hope you like this. Depending on weather I get reviews or not asking me to write another will determine if I do write a sequel. I do not own Legolas, Middle Earth or Mirkwood, but Baron is mine. Hope you like it! Please R/R! Thanx!

Chapter 1,

Finding A Path

One night, the Prince of Mirkwood was sitting in a tall elm, looking out on the world around his forest. Prince Legolas decided to set out from his lovely home in search of adventure, with no particular place in mind. Legolas was one of the most beautiful elves that had ever lived in Middle Earth, and he was strong, and very quick. He was desired by many, though he did not seek this regard. Legolas kept to himself, his heart only drawn by the beautiful woods and forests.

Legolas would travel through the woods instead of following the paths. He very rarely came across any travelers, and when he did they never noticed him. At night, he would sit high in a tree and the sounds of a nearby spring or the gentle rustling of leaves would lull him to sleep.

Legolas had the keen eyes and ears of his kin, and one day while he was listening to the distant songs of the birds, he heard a different sound from a couple of miles East. There was a series of chops, and thuds, then after a minute there was the sound of breaking branches, and a loud thud. After that, the chopping and thudding started up again. Legolas ran East towards the sound. When he drew near to the source he saw a dwarf felling trees. Legolas took his bow in his hands, then aimed and shot an arrow so that it just passed over the dwarfs head. The sound of the arrow roused the dwarf, who looked to find out where it came from.

Legolas ran up to dwarf and unsheathed his sword. "Who are you, and why are you chopping down trees in this wood?" demanded Legolas, holding his blade to dwarfs neck.

"What business is it of yours to ask who I am and what my business is?" retorted the Dwarf.

"None really, but I have a sword to your throat, so you'd better answer." Replied the elf.

"Because of your rudeness, I should teach you a lesson with my axe," said the dwarf, "but anyhow, I am Baron, son of Garon. And you are?"

"Legolas Greenleaf at your service," said the elf putting away his sword and bowing. "Forgive me if I repeat myself," said Legolas, "but may I ask you why you are felling trees?" Legolas was still in Mirkwood, but he did not want to give away his identity. Legolas thought that perhaps if Baron knew not who he was, that the dwarf would lead him into some sort of adventure.

Baron was puzzled by the elf's kindness, because elves and dwarfs, as you probably know, did not get along well. He decided that he wasn't going to get anywhere just standing there, so he decided to talk. "I am on a journey," he said, "The trees that I cut down are for fire."

"Where are you journeying to?" asked Legolas.

"As far away from Firetooth as I can," was Barons response.

"What is Firetooth?" said Legolas, his words filled with curiosity, and a yearning to know more.

"Firetooth is a dragon that came upon my home on Golden Hill, and I desire to be as far away from that beast as possible." Replied Baron.

Legolas was filled with enchantment. He had only read or been told stories about dragons. He knew that they were real, but he had never actually seen one.

Review, and tell me if you want a sequel. Okay? Thanx for your time!
