Okay, I am going to give you guys something a little.... uh, deep.
I've been thinking to myself lately... what makes anime, anime?
I mean is it just being animated in Japan, or created in Japan, by Japanese directors...
or must it be based on manga???
I mean am I in the right to place Spawn (the animated trilogy) in my anime section of my huge movie collection (107 and counting(23% anime... but hoping to increase that)) because it was animated by the Japanese... or should I put it with like the Lion King, and Emperors new Groove ( hey I will defend this movie to the hilt) I mean What are we (the otaku of the world) fighting for on a daily basis... and it is a fight between our opinion that animation is a totally valid form of entertainment, even above the age of, lets say for arguments sake, 12 (no offence to the 12 years olds on the site)... and how about Batman Beyond, which I love, or X-Men evolution... Invader Zim, REN AND STIMPY for chrissake!
Is it really just Japanamation ( I swear to never use that word again, this is just for the sake of my argument here), or is it a state of mind that us otaku have of saying WE HAVE A RIGHT TO STAY UP TILL MIDNIGHT TO WATCH THAT OLD SKOOL EPISODE OF SPEED RACER, WE WILL SPEND THAT EXTRA $5.00 TO WATCH CELL ANIMATION COMPARED TO LIVE ACTION TRASH
(okay, I like live action movies a lot (go Fight Club!), but I am ranting)
now on sheer technicality, I belive anime to be anything animated in Japan, usually for a Japanese audience (though I still do consider spawn an anime for academic purposes) but I guess my point is do you consider your otaku states as a sheer I only like Japanese animation because its like uhhh Japanese with like uhhh boobs and stuff...
or is Anime a kind of catheter towards a bigger act of defiance saying, I AM OVER THE AGE OF TWELVE AND I STILL CONSIDER ANIMATION A VIABLE FORM OF MEDIA... WITH THE ABILITY TO TELL STORIES THAT ARE LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WITH CURRENT LIVE ACTION TECHNOLOGY...
I HAVE A RIGHT TO GET UP EARLY AND WATCH MY GOD **** CARTOONS AT 0 Dark Thirty in the freekin' morning on Saturdays!!!
God Bless the otaku public, and may we go through the rest of our lives not hearing that phrase "that is childrens animation, you are way too old for that ****" as we watch Gaori's head crushed by Tetsuo's grotesque fat self...

P.S. this is kinda coming' from the place of my A-hole father suing my mother, and a whole bad situation with my brother... and my ***** step-mother's opinions have weighted heavily on my mind over the past few days...
