A/N: I don't own Final Fantasy 9 or any of the characters. If I did I'd be too rich to care about FanFiction.Net, how about that?

Basically, a poem/song dealing with how Garnet felt when Zidane remained at the Iifa tree. She is up at night, sitting at her chair by the window, looking outside. The rhyming in the poem is alternative, once every two lines, sometimes lines rhyme in pairs, just for variety.

As I rest here under the midnight sky
Surrounded by my happy court,
One could only wonder - why
I'm so unhappy again.
When I peek outside from in my room
Where I'm safe and secure,
I see the flash of the cat-eye moon
And it reminds me of you.
At my feet is a quilt of down
The warmth ceased to please,
When I cry it's without a sound
For I don't want Steiner at my knees.
Beatrix sleeps soundly tonight
Eiko has a puppy to hold
But without you it's not right
To feel anything but cold.
Where can you be, for so long?
Do you miss me, or my song?
I miss your laugh and your eyes
And your many battle cries.
I can see you still, in my mind
Like a picture, still and warm,
If only memory were so kind
To grant me more then what I see!
If only I could get you back,
If Vivi could cast a spell,
Or if Cid would see of it that
You were alive and well.
I am at my wit's end without you,
My silent guardian of the night,
Always there with our odd crew
To make everything good and bright.
Well, you saved us all many times,
You've done so much, damn you!
Why can't you save yourself now,
To your word be true...
Am I hoping for something
That had long passed away?
I get sick so often, I feel faint
On my two feet I sway...
I worry myself to near death,
My eyes sting from nights unslept
I cannot balance the books
I fear Alexandria will fall into debt.
Tomorrow there will be a play
It is the same as when we met,
Beatrix insists I attend it
She says my life's not over yet.
What does she know, of my life
She doesn't see me here at night
As I weep in agonized despair
Waiting for the first rays of light.
Then I know, as dawn shall come
That I have another day to look;
To wring my hands, my nerves undone
To wait for you to return all over again.

A/N: Did you like it? It's my first Final Fantasy Nine fiction, be nice! Constructive criticism accepted, but nothing too mean. I think Garnet had a nervous breakdown waiting for Zidane, and that's why she was sobbing and punching him, since she nearly went crazy waiting for him. Does anyone else agree with me?
