YOU REMIND ME
A Short Story
I was feeling as small
as a drop in the ocean
Smiling slightly, she picked up the little boy, smoothing the tangled fur of his costume.
"You remind me of... someone I know."
A wave of homesickness washed over her, and she nearly retched with the sadness, though her face remained impassive. This was what she had to do. There was no why; she'd been brought her because of an egotistical captain's desire for revenge. That itself held no purpose. She had to go home, or she'd fail them all. Danny-- Mother--
Worse, she'd fail Father.
She couldn't do that.
Setting him down gently, she turned to the exit.
"And that's why I have to go."
Pan's feeble attempts to keep her there fell on deaf ears; she was leaving. Come hell or high water, she wouldn't fail her family.
Lame, I know; more and better to come. Please stick with it! Better yet, review!
