Author's Note: I love Pearl Harbor and I've waited too long to write a fic. This is a song fic to "What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line and it takes place when Rafe and Danny are leaving for training for the Doolittle Raid.
Evelyn watched the plane as it grew smaller and smaller, taking the two men she cared the most about far away from her. She couldn't believe she could love two men so much. But the truth was that Rafe was her true love. He always had been no matter how much she loved Danny. She'd been such an idiot. She's betrayed her true love and come between him and his best friend. She hadn't really thought about what she was doing. It seemed right. She'd believed Rafe to be dead and she had figured that Rafe would have wanted Danny to take care of her if he couldn't. It seemed the right thing at the time. But it was all ruined when Rafe came back. Their relationship had been shattered and the only things she could place the blame on was herself and war.

There were so many good things to remember, she knew. She remembered when her and Rafe first met. He'd pursued her from the moment she passed him during his health test. That was only the beginning. Her favorite memory was when he made two paper swans, one for her and one for him. No man had ever done something like that and it was a true expression of his love. Their love had been so strong. Strong enough for Rafe to conquer death. But not strong enough for her. She couldn't believe God would give her only a short time of pure happiness then take it away.
