"Dad! You can't stop us from seeing each other! It'll never happen." Liz screamed at her father as Max silently, nervously watched.
"Yes, I can. He sent you to jail, he's dangerous; can't you see it? He only wants to have sex with you. You're too young. I won't let my daughter go out with some punk like that!" Mr. Parker scornfully said while pointing with his index finger, and looking at Max with hatred in his dark brown eyes.
"Mr. Parker, sir, I have only the utmost respect..." Mr. Parker cut him off short. Max knew in his gut that Mr. Parker wouldn't budge. 'He's trying so hard to be a good father to Liz. Liz is so much like him in that sense: so stubborn!' Max had droned out their conversation because it was too heart wrenching. Watching your soul mate and her father spew about YOU wasn't very comforting. "I'll just leave then."
"No. Don't go. We have to tell him SOMETHING. He can't keep us apart like this." Liz was almost screaming her head off. Now, muttering something below her breath, she said "Max, I know that you can't trust anybody with your secret. You barely trusted me, but we got over with that two years ago. Please, trust me in telling him some valid reason for us going into that convenient store, and scaring the hell out of that clerk that night. Tell him that you have a son, lost somewhere, and you don't know where to find him. Max, at least we can still be together, no matter how hard my dad can try and pull us away from each other." Liz was getting really desperate all of a sudden, but she knew in her heart that Max wasn't going to say anything to her father.
"Liz, you know I can't." Max's voice broke when he said that, and he started walking out the door, not seeing the tears that poured down Liz's face.
