Disclaimer: Dragon Ball Z does not belong to me, but to Akira Toriyama-sama. All I own is Leander and Vengeance (but not Kodamas).
AN: This is a sort of "teaser" I guess, for an idea I have, but not yet written. By the way, Leander is an OC, original character, of mine; she is the daughter of Princess Vegita, another of my OCs. ^^
Crimson Tears
Red... bloodred, blinking numbers on Leander's alarm clock indicated that it was 1:00 AM. She sat on the edge of her bed, holding a framed picture in her hands. She wasn't looking at the picture though, but at her hands, which were shaking as if they were cold. She couldn't bring herself to look at it.
It was taken about a year ago, at the annual beach party held at Kame-Sen'nin's island home every year. Leander's mother, Princess Vegita, was wearing the royal Saiya-jin armour, mainly for laughs. Her father, Yamcha, was wearing his orange gi pants with his top off.
Now, they were dead. Both of them were dead. They sacrificed their lives to protect the planet Earth, which, in the end, was destroyed along with them, Leander's friends' parents, and the monster that caused all of it.
Leander heard a shatter and she realized her shaking hands had dropped the frame. The glass cracked and shifted, failing to protect the picture inside it any more. Tears splashed onto the glass shards; Leander's tears. She fell to the floor, burying her head in her hands, sobbing more tears.
She saw a faint gleam through a crack between her fingers. Her father's katana; rusted from disuse. She had grabbed it before she and her friends' eldest, Gohan's father wished them, and the other people of Earth, to another, similar planet where they could survive. He excluded himself and the monster, and Leander's parents were already dead.
She stumbled over to his katana, being careful not to step on the shards or the frame. She knelt down on her knees and picked it up, bringing it before her face. She would honour her family. And, with her father's katana in her hands, she knew how to do it.
She bent her head down, her voice soft as a feather. "Mother. Father. Wherever you are now, I hope you can hear me. Your deaths will not go unavenged, I will avenge them! I will not stop until I have recieved my vengeance, or until I have joined you in the otherworld. And... With this blade, I shall inflict your honour upon me. Though you are both dead, you will live on within me," she whispered.
Leander pointed the katana's blade torward herself and took a deep breath, fearing the pain, but ready to endure it. Then, she lashed the katana blade across her face, creating a thin line of blood starting from underneath her left eye and ending just beyond her right chin. She screamed in pain as her free hand snapped to her face in an instictive movement.
Leander felt the warm blood drip onto her hand and run down the length of her arm. "Blood..." she gurgled, as her mind became more and more disoriented, "There's actually BLOOD on me...!" Blood gathered up at the corners of her mouth as she laughed, and laughed, not caring if she woke anyone up; she wouldn't have be able to stop herself even if she did.
Then, with a final laugh, she slipped into unconsciousness. Darkness shouded her head as it had shrouded her heart, except for one thing: she loved it.
