"Miranda, I um, I need to talk to you." Lizzie shoved Miranda into an
empty utility closet. Then immediately pulled the cord of a one light-
bulbed light.
"What?" Miranda was taken by a surprise. "Lizzie, what are you doing?"
"Ugh, okay, here's the scoop. You know Ethan Craft, right?" Lizzie now had an 'I have a secret that I don't want to tell you, but have to' look on her face.
"No Lizzie, I don't know Ethan Craft." Miranda said with a sarcastic look on her face. "OF COURSE I know Ethan Craft. Come on Lizzie, we've only had a crush on him for like three years!"
"OK, OK, stupid question." Lizzie started to look down and only looked at Miranda every couple of sentences. "Well, he called me today."
"ETHAN CRAFT called YOU? Oh my gosh, well, what happened? Did he ask you out? Ooooo, did he ask you to the Spring Fling?"
"Not exactly." It was killing Lizzie to the say this. All she wanted to do was run home right now and hug her favorite stuffed animal.
"Then what did he want?" Miranda was more curious than ever.
"Not exactly." Lizzie tried her hardest to let her eyes meet Miranda's. She finally succeeded. "He wanted to know if YOU would go to the Spring Fling with him. And he wanted me to ask you."
"WHAT?" Miranda got a huge smile on her face. "He asked ME to the Spring Fling? ME?"
"That's right." Lizzie said in a real down mood.
"What's the matter?" Miranda asked finally sensing her friend's mood.
"Nothing." Lizzie shook her head. "Nothing's the matter."
"Okay," Miranda relaxed and had the biggest smile on her face Lizzie had ever seen. "The tell Ethan I said 'Yes'! Okay?"
"Sure."
"Thank you, Lizzie!" Miranda screamed and started jumping up and down.
"It's nothing." Lizzie couldn't look at Miranda anymore, she had to look down.
"This is going to be the best dance of the year! ETHAN ASKED ME TO THE SPRING FLING! ETHAN CRAFT!!!"
Yeah, thought Lizzie, the best dance of the year.
