Prologue: A New Beginning

I'm a Digi-Destined... a very vague beginning to my story, but you'll soon understand. My name is AJ Kamedaki. I was born in Kyoto, Japan on October 22, 1987. That means I'm 14. I grew up a very odd person. People knew me as someone who never had an enemy, but in another world, the Digital World, I was opposed to a whole army. This is how it started:

It was a windy, cold Sunday. I sat at my computer, drawing small pictures and messing with the layout of my desktop, when I noticed a small green light flashing in the background. I made a picture of the starry, night sky. It was black with yellow, red, silver, and blue dots as stars- but never a green one. I moved closer to the screen, pressing my face onto the gleaming monitor. It seemed only as a small green dot, probably a virus. I double-clicked on the flashing pinpoint, then waited for a small icon to appear. A small fox labeled "Access Digital World" fell next to "My Computer" and "Microsoft Outlook". Maybe it was a computer game. I hadn't ever heard of a virus called "Digital World" before. I double-clicked the icon, and another screen flashed before me. It was a silver background with a blue text box in the middle, and the same small, brown fox above it. I went to the text box and clicked on it.

The small brown fox began to speak. His voice sounded small and squeaky, full of judgement and of a wiseness. I looked toward my door, then reached for my earphones. If it was a game, it would HAVE to cost something... I wasn't gonna turn down such an oppurtunity of playing a game sent to me personally. I clicked on the text box again.

"Enter Name of Digimon, Please."

Digimon? I sat staring at the screen, mainly at the fox. The fox seemed to be staring at me also. I couldn't think. Digimon... that must mean Digital Monster...so I have to invent my own monster. How cool! I sat, staring for a bit longer at the fox. I know, my Digimon will be that brown fox. I began to flip through the pages of my mind. Silver... Shippou-mon. Shippoumon. I looked down at the keyboard and typed "Shippoumon". I looked back at the screen, now gold with the text block a midnight blue. The fox sat at the bottom of the screen, prancing around. He stood on all fours, covered in a brown, glossy coat of fur. Three tails fell behind him as his orange eyes showed happiness. His small, pearly, white wings were tucked behind him.

"Access Granted! Welcome to the Digital World."

The scenery faded into a lush, green valley. I scanned the area, noticing a small icon of a monitor above a giant flower. It was labeled "Enter". This must begin the game. The first level. Glancing down at the .gif of Shippoumon in the field, I clicked "Enter" and watched in fear as I fell through my monitor. Brushing myself off, I lifted myself up. How had I gone from my small room in Kyoto into a vast meadow? I looked around, adjusting my glasses. Letting out a small cry, I looked down. Sitting before me was a brown fox. A brown Digimon. My Digimon. I finally met Shippoumon.
