Disclaimer: Don't own Middle Earth, blaah, blaah, blaah…this is getting
tiresome. Let's just say that if it's in the 'fanfiction' category and you
recognise the characters/places, ect. Then it's bFANfiction/b and I
don't own anything that's in the books, movie, or w/e.
bThe Adventure of a Lifetime…Or Not/b
Young Prince Legolas Greenleaf sat in the protective hollow of a large oak tree, the rain thundering down outside in the small glade. His damp golden hair fell just above his shoulders, dripping down onto the soft material of his green and gold tunic.
'They'll never find me here...then I can runaway to Imladris and Lothlorien and Gondor, just like Eltheran!' he thought, his large emerald eyes shining with anticipation.
He gripped his small training bow tighter, peering out into the rain for any signs of life. He let out a little gasp as his keen Elven eyesight fell upon a Shelob scuttling along the small path. It immediately froze and begun sniffing around, slowly making its way towards Legolas' hiding place.
The Princeling held his breath and squeezed his eyes shut in fear, trying to keep as still and quiet as possible. His small knuckles were white around his bow and he was having a hard time fighting the growing lump in his throat.
Suddenly, the Shelob let out a triumphant hiss and stuck its head into the hollow, grinning down at the little Prince menacingly.
Legolas cried out and struck it on the head with the flat of his small hunting-knife. It hissed in pain and toppled backwards, landing on the wet grass and rolling onto its back. The little Elf used this opportunity to jump out of his hiding place. He didn't dare waste a moment's time as he ran in the direction of the palace, pumping his little arms and legs as fast as they would go. Glancing back, his young eyes widened in fear as he saw four large Shelob chasing after him close behind, their eyes glinting angrily.
He jumped and leaped over fallen-branches, rocks and plants, desperately trying to escape. The city gates were now in sight as Legolas found his strength failing him. His breath came in raspy gasps, his throat was sore, his feet ached and tears of fear streamed down his cheeks. And the Shelob were gaining on him.
"Daddy, help!" he whispered desperately, hearing a loud hiss right behind him. Just as the closest Shelob got ready to pounce upon him, a large arrow embedded itself in its forehead, instantly killing it. The remaining Shelob and Legolas froze in shock and miniscule fear.
"Darro" a strong voice commanded. Seven Archers of Mirkwood surrounded the group, arrows pointed threateningly at the monsters.
"Go back to your territory and do not return." A Male Elf commanded angrily. The speaker strode forward, long hair falling around his shoulders, bright blue eyes narrowed in fury and clad in dark green and brown. The Shelob slowly backed away and melted into the forest, hissing and muttering as they disappeared.
Legolas let out a loud sob and threw himself at the Elf, sobbing into his tunic in fear. The older Elf ruffled his hair affectionately and scooped him up, comforting him softly. The Princeling looped his arms around his neck and allowed himself to be carried back into the city boundaries, sniffling and sobbing quietly.
"Th-thank you, Eltheran..." he whispered amidst his tears, hugging his big brother gratefully.
Yes…someday, when he was as old and strong as his brother, he would explore the realm of Middle Earth...just...not today...
There we go, all done! ^____^ Please review and tell me what you think!
