I don't own anything in this fanfic – the song is my the Beatles, and written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I am just a Lord Of The Rings fan who loves Frodo

The Long And Winding Road

~The long and winding road that leads to your door

Will never disappear, I've seen that road before~

'Frodo…' Sam said, sitting up in bed.

'Yeah…' Frodo mumbled next to him.

'I want to end this, it's not right.'

'I thought you loved me!'

'I do… but it's wrong…'

~It always leads me here, leads me to your door~

Frodo and Sam remained friends, relying on each other when they needed help or advice, but it wasn't quite the same without the romance. It was fate that made Sam go with Frodo to destroy the ring…

~The wild and windy night that the rain washed away~

The fellowship had set up camp in a forest clearing. It was a wet, windy night, and everyone was feeling depressed.

~Has left a pool of tears crying for the day~

Frodo was curled up, trying to sleep despite the wind and rain. He felt scared and lonely, and before he knew it he was crying. All he wanted was for Sam to come up to him and hug him, but that would never happen.

~Why leave me standing here, let me know the way~

What had he done to lose Sam? Frodo kept on asking himself this over and over again. Yes, they were both male, but that wasn't against the law – they had loved each other. If only Sam had explained what was wrong.

~Many times I've been alone, and many times I've cried~

Frodo thought about the night Sam had left him, back at Bag End. He had cried for days, pouring his soul out to Bilbo. He'd been alone and upset before, but it had seemed worse that time.

~Anyway, you'll never know the many ways I've tried~

Frodo remembered trying everything to get Sam back, but he had failed every time. Sam had a strong will, and it took a lot to change his mind. They were still friends, but friends wasn't good enough for Frodo.

~And still they lead me back to the long and winding road

You left me standing here a long, long time ago~

The fellowship was on the move again. They were all grouchy from the lack of sleep, and Frodo was still depressed and upset. He kept on looking over to Sam, a look of longing in his eyes.

~Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to your door~

The fellowship was in Lothlorien. Gandalf had fallen into the shadow in Moria, and Frodo was depressed and upset again. He sat alone, and suddenly realised there was someone standing by him. He turned to see Sam looking at him, a look of pity and regret in his eyes.

~But still they lead me back to the long and winding road

You left me standing here a long, long time ago~

Sam sat at Frodo's side. 'I'm sorry, Frodo. Sorry for everything… I still love you.'

'I love you too, Samwise Gamgee,' Frodo replied.

~Don't keep me waiting here, lead me to your door~

They kissed, and all Frodo's dreams came true. He couldn't help feeling happy, despite the loss of Gandalf. He soon fell asleep in Sam's arms, contented at last.
