The Neverending Story belongs to Michael Ende. I am only doing this for fun.
Forgotten Conversation Between Atreyu and Moonchild
Movie Version
He stood, looking at the restored landscape. His heart was in his throat. She came up behind him and he turned to her.
"Empress Moonchild," he said, addressing her by her new name.
"Call me Moonchild, Atreyu," she said softly.
"All right, Em... Moonchild," he said and smiled slightly.
"I don't want to go," he added.
There, he said what was troubling him. Now he just waited.
She studied him, those pure brown eyes filled him with a feeling that he would do anything for her.
"I know, and I don't want you to go either," she whispered.
"Then why must I? I want to stay by your side. I feel that I must protect you with my life and blood, I have felt that way since the first time I saw you," he said softly, looking into her eyes with his piercing dark eyes.
"You must return to your people," she said.
"And you must return to your duties," he sighed.
"But I feel that the times will not be as easy as they once were," she said.
He looked at her in surprise.
"The Dark Powers will try again, we both know that," she explained.
He nodded; he had felt it too, somewhere in the depths of his soul.
"Then I will return as soon as I am able and I will stand by your side until the end of my life," he vowed.
"Are you sure?" she asked.
"Moonchild, you own my heart. I want nothing more then to guard and serve you," he said.
Then she said the words that he had longed to hear, as he had just said the very words that she had hoped he would say.
"As you do mine, Atreyu. I would be honored if you would be my Protector," she said.
He smiled; his heart thudded in his chest. She had given him what he had wanted.
"Then I will return without haste, Moonchild," he said and gently kissed her on the cheek.
He then hopped on Artax and rode away. Her eyes followed him as he rode away.
"Return soon," she said softly then went back into the Ivory Tower.
