Notes: Ok, this is my first Outlaw Star fic and it's going to be a one shot. I am terrible at epics or chapter stories. I'm never in the same mood and they don't seem to fit together well. Oh well. Anyway please review, flame, complain, whatever you feel like doing.
Disclaimer: I do not Own Outlaw Star, or any of it's characters. Never will either. :)
I Just Wish You Could
Melfina looked across the bed over strewn blankets and pillows to see a sleeping Gene laying on his back. Sweat covered his body dew to the hot and humid air temperature of the summer night.
He looked so innocent, like a small child. Even with the markings covering his body that resembled that of striped of a tiger.
She pulled the silky sheet that had come from her bed a little tighter to her body as she watched over the sleeping form that was unaware of the presence of the android in his room. Hopefully she could keep it that way.
She blushed when she thought of what he might do if he found her standing beside his bed in the dark, wrapped in only a blood red sheet.
She couldn't help it, she couldn't sleep a wink. But now she was so tired and at peace she was tempted to crawl into bed with the man that she so loved and desired and fall asleep near his side.
It was such a tempting idea, being able to sleep next to only his boxer clad form through the night until morning. Like two lovers, but Melfina knew they weren't lovers.
She loved him, but he didn't love her. It was as simple as that. She was just deluding herself, she knew it. But she couldn't help it, just like that little need to come see him sleep.
She could only ever do it every once in a while, for Gene constantly had woman in his bed. Something that broke her heart.
But she would always have to swallow the lump in her throat the next morning after knowing what they had done together the night before and serve him and sometimes a her, breakfast.
It hurt, it hurt so much, but he never knew it. She was to afraid he wouldn't care, she would rather have him oblivious than uncaring. Although he was already uncaring anyway wasn't he?
She was just a thing to him, just because she was an android. It wasn't like she didn't have feelings to.
Seeing him moan a little bit in the secluded darkness of his rest she finally let the smile that had been tugging at her lips spread across her face as her eyes weld up with unshed tears.
This would be the last time she would ever see him sleep, and the last time she would see him again. Unbeknownst to any of the crew of the Outlaw Star, Harry had offered a place to live with him and his brother. he promised he could make her happy, make her forgot him. If anyone could love her it was Harry and she would try to love him back.
She let a silent sigh slip from her mouth as turned to leave, letting a few stray tears slip down her cheeks to rest in the hollow of her neck.
I just wish you could.
" Good bye Gene."
